The hospital where ambulance has delivered first patients on April 26.
Those are the boots, helmets and other clothing worn by the firefighters and atomic plant personel who were first to arrive on the scene. The gear they wore is stored in the basement of a hospital. This photo is not mine. I am not going to the basement with radiation thousands of times above normal.
Taking a walk through basements that are seething with 40 milliroentgen in radiation would be akin to walking through a mine field wearing snowshoes. This is the highest building in town.
