Ram Air Progression System, or RAPS for short, is the most popular form of training for wannabe skydivers. Initially you take part in a 6-8 hour ground training course that teaches you everything from leaving an aircraft to how to land your parachute.
Your first two jumps are static line, where you are attatched to the aircraft by a long line that deploys your parachute for you. The last thing you want to be thinking about when you jump for the first time is pulling your own chute!
After succesfully completing your first two jumps you move on to "Dummy Rips" where you still jump a static line but you go through the drill of deploying your own canopy. After three sucessful dummy rips your ready for your first freefall. Progression runs all the way up to BPA Category 8 after 18 jumps, when you can really call yourself a Skydiver.
The Cost of the course, at a special discounted rate for STC students is £120.
