Chapter 27
As Kristina led Fiona inside, Kevin turned and closed the distance between him and Nick.
"Nick – BACK OFF with Fiona!" Kevin said flatly, his jaw set firmly.
Nick smirked. "What? I don’t know what you are talking about!"
Stepping a little closer, Kevin said. "The hell you don’t! I saw the way you were looking at her, trying to charm her with that impetuous little smirk of yours."
"She is pretty HOT."
"She’s also MY girlfriend! And, I want you to back off."
"You’ve known her how long?" Nick said throwing his hands up in the air. "Maybe we should let her choose who she wants."
"There is NO choice!"
Howie, worried that a fistfight was going to break out between the two of them, stepped closer.
"Hey - Nick, Kevin’s right. He met her first, she is obviously his girlfriend, let it go!"
"But, I saw the way she was looking at me, undressing me with her eyes" Nick said with a sarcastic tone.
"NICK!" Howie said sternly. "I love you, bro. But I’m not going to have you fighting either. Kevin and Fiona are starting a relationship and you need to leave it at that."
Nick held out his hand towards Kevin in friendly gesture. "Sorry, bro. Howie’s right."
Kevin stared at Nick for a few moments, trying to read his thoughts. He knew that Nick was only backing off because of Howie and would try to make a move on Fiona at some point and time. But Kevin was going to be on guard, he wasn’t going to allow that to happen. Fiona had stolen his heart with her innocence and sincerity, not to mention her jaw dropping looks. He did not want to lose the chance to have her in his life, especially not to Nick.
"Yeah, I’m sorry too. It’s just that I really like this girl," Kevin said cautiously.
Nick smiled. "Okay, well you two have gorgeous women in your life once again, AJ is too busy loving the single life, Brian is married and I’m lonely. Care to help a guy out and see if they know anyone who might want a pop star for a boyfriend?"
"Nick – you know that Kris loves you but Fi is her only friend at this time. Don’t hold your breath!" Howie said as he patted Nick’s shoulder.
"I guess you are on your own, this time," Kevin said sarcastically just as the girls came out of the house laughing and smiling, beers in each hand.
