Super Smash Brothers - Review

Super Smash Brothers will go down as Nintendo classic, even ranking up there with the Mario Bros. and Link. Heck, those two people and more are in this “star-studded, bumpin, bruisin, brawlin, all-star game.” If you want the most fun in four-player action, Nintendo certainly delivers. And I’ve seen this phrase so many times at other sites, why not put it here: you get to beat up pikachu!

Graphics: Excellent graphics for an N64 game. Normally, since Nintendo still used cartridges at the time, N64 graphics were all squared and stuff. But for Super Smash Brothers, most of the time you see well-rounded graphics. You can see the minor flaws mostly when you are seen close up. There really aren’t a lot of major flaws I can point out. And the minor ones are too small to make a difference in the whole game. Graphics – 9/10

Sound/Music: This is a great game when it comes to music. For those of you that have played the original Mario Brothers Games, Donkey Kong Games, and whole bunch of other games, this game will bring it all back. There’s really not much to say other then, well, umm. I can’t really think of anything to say. Sound is also a really good in this game. Everything matches everything. If you hit someone, get hit, throw someone, get thrown, everything sounds real. Very few other N64 games come close. Sound/Music – 10/10

Replay Value: I am going to subdivide this category into two subjects: One-player and Multi-player.

One-player Replay Value: Bad, Horrible, Crap, and Boring are just a few words that describe Super Smash Bros. One-player replay value. You get four bonus characters and one bonus stage. What then? Play against the computer for all your life? Nope. Throw it in the trash. You beat the game. There are no challenges now. That’s all I have to say about One-player replay value. One-player Replay Value – 2/10
Multi-player Replay Value: Fun, Fun, and Fun are just a few words the describe Super Smash Bros. Multi-player replay value. You get the four bonus characters, and one bonus stage. What then? Get three of your friends and start beating them up, that’s what! I can’t really describe how fun it is to play Super Smash Brothers with all my friends. I’m speechless. Multi-player Replay Value – 10/10

Overall: One of the funnest, most well-done N64 games of all time. Great graphics (for an N64 game), great sound and music, and great multi-player replay value. One-player mode is the only drawback. I would really spend no more $35 on this. Overall: 7.75/10
