NBA Live 2000 is the best basketball game out there for the N64, no questions. The game-play is awesome. 3-point contest, season, playoffs, and more! The options menu gives you an array of, well, options. The only thing that could beat NBA Live for the N64 is NBA Live for the GCN!
Graphics: Excellent graphics for an N64 game. Although the players may seem a little too small, the overall way they shoot, dunk, lay-up, and pull of moves is fantastic. The best thing though, is that after they do a 360-degree dunk, or a windmill, or some other kind of crazy dunk, they have a range of expressions they use to show how pumped up they are! But one major flaw is that sometimes the players on your team just walk of the court. I also noticed that this glitch only happened with guards. It happened to me with Derek Fisher (p. guard from Lakers) and one of my created players. Graphics – 7/10
Sound/Music: There isn’t that much of a variety of sound and music in this game. Basically the only times u hear music is in the intro, main menu, and pause menu. The sound in this game just plain sucks. When you push someone down all you hear is them falling on the floor (::splat::). And sometimes when they get called for a foul they yell out, “NO!”. At least the commentator isn’t so bad. He even has nicknames for some of the players (ex/ Karl Malone – The Mailman). Sound/Music – 5/10
Replay Value: There aren’t a lot of things to do when you get this game. The only bonus character is M.J. Once you beat the season and playoffs there’s nothing left to do. So basically, this is a crappy 1-player game. But if you get even one friend, this will turn into some of the most fun ever! Just go to arcade mode and start do tricks like could’ve never before! Play the 3-point contest with 2 or more friends to add more fun. Then top it off with a 1-on-1 tournament! Heck even create your own team based on a team you’re really on, bring all your teammates, and start playing as yourselves in a video game! But then once all your friends leave, the game will get really boring. Replay Value - 6/10
Overall: The best NBA game for the N64, but not the best game for the N64 overall. If you see this game for more than $30 then don't get ripped off by buying it. Overall - 6/10
