Background

Air Tanzania Corporation (ATC), the Tanzanian carrier, was established on 11 th March 1977, to continue operations following the collapse of East African Airways (EAA), and the flagship by the were two Boeing 737-200.

After about 56 years Air Tanzania has decided to operate one of the "state of the art" Boeing 737-9 Max and on September 30 the first Boeing 737-9Max registered 5H-TCP arrived to its new home at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Air Tanzania, currently operates a mixed fleet of (16) sixteen aircraft including (4) four Airbus A220-300, (1) one Boeing 767-300 Cargo, (3) three Boeing 787-8s, (2) Boeing 737-9, five DHC-8-Q400s and one DHC-8-300.

Four (4) aircraft are at the moment parked for maintenance: three (3) Airbus A220-300 and one (1) De Havilland Q300 Dash.

What is going on. The latest news is that Air Tanzania Bombardier Dash8-300 left Luqa Malta
airport as TC308 for further maintenance at Mersa Matruh-Egypt!

THE FLEET

Air Tanzania currently operates a fleet of sixteen(16) aircraft: four (4) Airbus A220-300s, two (2) Boeing 737-9MAX, one (1) Boeing 767-300F, three (3) Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, five (5) Bombardier Dash 8-Q400s and one (1) De Havilland Q300 Dash.


Four (4) aircraft are parked for maintenance: three (3) Airbus A220-300 and one (1) De Havilland Q300 Dash.


The latest aircraft to be delivered to Air Tanzania Boeing 767-300F, 5H-TCO named Tanganyika W.

Air Tanzania operates 48 daily flights to 14 domestic and 10 international destinations.

Regular domestic routes from its Julius Nyerere Int airport to: Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Zanzibar, Kigoma, Geita, Mbeya, Mtwara, Bukoba, Songea, Tabora, Iringa, Arusha and Mpanda.

International routes from Julius Nyerere Int airport, Kilimanjaro Int. airport and Zanzibar Int airport to: Mumbai (India), Lubumbashi (DR Congo), Nairobi (Kenya), Hahaya (Comoros), Ndola and Lusaka (Zambia), Harare (Zimbabwe), Bujumbura (Burundi) and Entebbe (Uganda). A twice-weekly flight to Guangzhou (China) was added in July 2022. The airline has also outlined plans to start flying to Lagos (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana) and Juba (South Sudan), and resume flights to Dubai (UAE) and Johannesburg (South Africa) once the new aircraft arrive next year.

The Boeing 767-300F will be based at Kilimanjaro International Airport and operate to i.e India and China.
