About My School Eastern Illinois University is a public university in the US with a student population of 12,000. The school was initially set up as a teachers' college ( a sort of NIE, if you will) and later expanded to include various disciplines. The school has its own building for the communications department which included broadcasting and print media. Its journalism program is also accredited by the ACEJMC ( American Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.) In year 2000, it was rated by US News Magazine as one of the top public regional schools in the Midwest region of the US. It was placed 7th among a list of 10. The US is divided into four major regions: The NorthEast (states like New York, New Jersey etc) , South (Texas, Florida etc) , West (California, Washington etc), and the Midwest (Illinois, Ohio etc) . The magazine (US News) and date of publication (Sept 11 2000, can be seen under magnification on the lower right corner.) There is a small student to teacher ratio. 90 percent of the classes are conducted by full time lecturers.
