               Episode # 2 - The Gauntlet is Thrown

          This show begins with Tea beating Joey in Duel Monsters for the 5th time in a row.   Yugi and his friends celebrate his victory and decide to watch the Regional Championships on TV. After long hard training with Grandpa, Joey arrives at Yugi's living room and he and the others watch Rex Raptor battle Weevil Underwood.  Joey thought that a dinosaur deck could beat insects any day.  But Weevil was able to win with trap cards.  Maximillion Pegasus arrives at the match to award Weevil and invite the finalists to a tournament that he is hosting called Duelists Kingdom.  Just then, Yugi's remembers a package that came in today.  It was from Maximillion Pegasus, the creator of Duel Monsters.  Inside was a dueling glove and two star chips along with his invitation to the Duelist Kingdom and a video.  Yugi popped the video into the TV and the rest of the room became still.  Pegasus appeared on the screen and explains that he wants Yugi to go to the Duelists Kingdom because he had beat Kaiba.  Finally he challenges Yugi to a duel and they engage in a duel monsters battle.  The match has a strict 15 minute time limit.  Whoever has the most life points at the end of the 15 minutes, wins.  Yugi transforms into Yami Yugi and match begins.  Both of them duel at their bests and it comes down to the finally seconds.  Pegasus has more life points but his Face Less Mage is unguarded to an attack.   When Yugi was about to attack, and win, the time ran out so he lost.  With the Millennium Eye, Pegasus took Grandpa's soul and Yugi now must go to the Duelist Kingdom to regain his Grandfather back.  We find out that Pegasus created the Duelist Tournament in order to draw in the holders of the Millennium items.

Episode Rating (1-10) 8.  This episode had weak dueling but it started moving the plot along.  Also some new characters were introduced.
