THE HEART OF THE CARDS ...Trust in the Heart
EPISODE GUIDE
Episode # 43 - Legendary Heroes (1) Kaiba confronts the five big executives of Kaiba Corp (The Big 5) about plotting with Pegasus to take over the company. Kaiba decides to fire all of them and they start coming up with excuses. They say it was because Kaiba Corp was going bankrupt. They said that while Kaiba was at Pegasus's Castle, they created a new virtual reality game based of Duel Monsters called Duel Monsters Quest. The Big 5 propose a bet. If Kaiba plays the game and wins, they will leave the company, but if he looses they will remain in control. Kaiba accepts... Mokuba sees his brother off. They ride the elevator down to the basement where the game is located. Mokuba asks Kaiba why he accepted the challenge, it has to be a trap. Kaiba knows and is positive he will beat the game and show everyone he is capable of running Kaiba Corp alone. Kaiba gets in the virtual pod and submits his deck. Mokuba hesitates for a moment but starts the game. Kaiba awakes and finds himself in a forest. He has his deck of cards on his wrist and a machine displays that he has 2000 LP. Mokuba watches him walk through the forest on the monitor. He sees Kaiba confronted by a Two-Headed King Rex. Kaiba pulls out a Blue Eyes and destroys it. Something moves in the trees and it tosses a card at Kaiba. The card is Dragon Capture Jar and the Blue Eyes is sucked in. Then the figure drops down so Kaiba can see it, the Armed Ninja. It throws a net at Kaiba… In the Real World, Kaiba's body goes crazy and then he lies very still. Mokuba opens the pod and tries to wake Kaiba but he is unconscious. Right then, the doorway out is blocked and one of the Big 5 come onto the speaker and says that Kaiba's consciousness is now trapped inside their game. If he can't beat the game, he will be trapped inside it forever, then Kaiba Corporation will belong to them. Outside the door to the lab, Kemo and two of his boys are trying to get inside the lab. Mokuba takes Kaiba's deck out of his chair and then Kemo makes his way into the lab, but no Mokuba in sight. He then notices that there is a open air vent where Mokuba made his escape. Kemo informs the Big 5 that Mokuba got away and one tells them to find him. They are sure that Mokuba will be back. Mokuba would never leave his brother and in any case, no one can beat the game. Meanwhile, at the Game Shop, Yugi and his friends are talking when Mokuba comes in the door. He tells them what happened and asks Yugi to help save his brother. He tells them all that Kaiba's real dream is to build a place called Kaiba Land to bring happiness to all the children. It's the reason he works so hard for Kaiba Corporation. They agree to help him. Grandpa tells them that the Big 5 will be after them. On the way, Mokuba tells them on the way that the Big 5 have control of Kaiba Corporation, they cant go back to the lab. They all head for Kaiba Land and Mokuba checks it and sees they can access the game from there. Yugi's friends check out the chairs for the game and there are only three. Only three people can go. Joey figures he and Yugi are automatically going since they have the best decks. Tristan tries to go too but Mokuba says he will be the third. Joey says that if they lose, he won’t be able to come back. Mokuba doesn’t care; life is meaningless without Kaiba. Joey, Mokuba and Yugi all get set to enter the game and Tristan wishes them luck before sending them into the game. But their trick is not foolproof, the Big 5 have caught onto Mokuba's plan. They send Kemo to Kaiba Land to make sure that Yugi and Mokuba don’t get out of the game... Inside the game world, Yugi looks at his deck holder and figures this game world is somehow connected to Duel Monsters. They don’t know all the rules yet. They all come to a cliff that overlooks a graveyard. Joey, Yugi and Mokuba walk through the graveyard and Joey thinks this place looks familiar. Off to his side though, the ground begins to crack and out comes Armored Zombie. Joey starts screaming which gets Yugi and Mokuba's attention and Dragon Zombie and the Clown Zombie appear as well. Joey sees that these are all Duel Monsters and gets that this is almost like a regular duel. He pulls a card and then is clueless on what to do now. Mokuba sends out his Rude Kaiser and Yugi sends out his Dark Magician. Rude Kaiser takes out the Dragon Zombie and the Dark Magician takes down the other two. Joey gets how it's done now and sends out his Flame Swordsman but like zombie's do, the zombies all get a little power up from being revived. Yugi tries to stop Joey from attacking but it's too late, Flame Swordsman slices the Dragon Zombie in two. It reforms and counter-attacks, destroying the Flame Swordsman. Yugi reminds Joey that they're attack power goes up every time they're revived and asks Joey if he still remembers the Duelist Kingdom, how he defeated the zombies. Joey remembers that they're defense is at zero and uses his Shield and Sword to switch the attack and defense points. All the zombies now have 0 attack power. Yugi then uses his Dark Magician to destroy them all. Yugi sees that the monsters left behind a card, called a gold coin card, the currency of this world. Joey, however, sees that his life points did not go back up, it's still reading 1820. Mokuba says that this is their lifeline and Joey wonders what will happen if it reaches zero. He notices a tiny little fairy hiding behind a headstone. They check it out and Joey says in games fairies usually have some kind of hints. Right then, the fairy flies off and they chase it. Out of the graveyard, Joey loses the fairy but Mokuba has found something else, a town in the distance. As they walk through the town, Joey sees a rack of dried up looking lizards hanging up and wonders if that is what these people actually eat here. Yugi then calls Joey over to another merchant's stand and Joey starts drooling over the merchandise: extremely rare Duel Monster's cards. Joey wants to buy some but Mokuba points out they don’t have enough gold yet. Mokuba reminds him that they should be looking for his brother. Joey reluctantly agrees and they start looking for clues. A while later, everyone meets back up with no clues. Mokuba though says he has something. They go to the edge of town and in the far distance some mountains. Mokuba says that someone was taken to the Cave of Death this morning and they figure it to be Kaiba. They have to cross the desert to get there Mokuba dashes out. Yugi and Joey follow him. Later on, sand whipping around them, Joey, Mokuba and Yugi are hiking though the desert. Joey and Yugi want to turn back but Mokuba tells them, he's going to find his brother. Right then, a tornado comes in on them all and sweeps them up and lands them right where they started. Yugi sees that Mokuba is rather quiet and then an old man starts to chuckle at them and asks them if they want to cross the desert. Yugi and Joey perk up and the man says they will need a Niwatori Card to cross. Yugi asks how can they get it. The old man doesn’t tell them. Mokuba knows now that you cant leave this town without that card. Yugi decides that they should split up, the card should be somewhere around in the town. Meanwhile in the real world, Kemo is outside Kaiba Land trying to stop Yugi from rescuing Kaiba. Inside, Tea says that they are taking a long time. Tristan says that even though Yugi is a genius, he needs time to finish the game. Tea hears footsteps coming toward them. Tristan thinks they're enemies and tells Tea to lock the door and barricade it. Back in the game, They have no luck finding the Niwatori Card. Joey wonders if it’s a bug in the game but Yugi says they should keep looking. Yugi then notices something and runs over to in and announces that he has found the card. It's actually a poster which reads: Want to challenge the champion? The prize is a Niwatori Card. Waiting for courageous challengers. Owners of the Coliseum." They all head for the Coliseum. The champ's "agent" is happy since he figured that no one would take the challenge. He hands them costumes and Yugi asks is it dangerous. He says that the only rule is that you fight until your lifeline hits 0. Joey volunteers but Yugi says that his lifeline is already lowered from that battle with the zombies. Joey says that they don’t really need him, but they can’t win the game without Yugi. Outside, the fans are ready for a battle and the agent announces that the match is about to begin. The crowd starts to joke at Joey but Yugi cheers him on. The agent calls out the champ, the "Butterfly Queen" who is brought out on a caravan with four big guys carrying a platform where the butterfly queen is sitting in it. The champ looks quite familiar with her purple mini-skirt and flowing blonde hair... Summary By YamiHikari Screen Shots: Coming Soon New Characters: None Characters Shown: Yugi, Joey, Tea, Tristan, Bakura, Kaiba, Mokuba, Grandpa, Kemo, Mai Cards Featured: (Coming Soon...) Episode Rating (1-10) 5.7 Ummm, OK. Since Duelist Kingdom is over and they can't start Battle City yet, there's nothing better to do than to show pointless episodes. There is some cool parts about Duel Monsters Quest but for the most part it's kind of a filler. The Big 5 taking over is kind of cool. (Go Mokuba!!!) |
