CLASS GUIDELINES/RULES

Show respectful behavior that promotes the learning of the entire class

Participate in daily class activities and cleanup

Food or drink cannot be taken into lab or computer areas

GRADING

The final grade is composed of assignments including labs, class work, homework, quizzes, tests, research papers, class participation, attendance, district CRT exams, and final exams.  The final grade is determined by number of points earned divided by the total number of points.  (Note:  attendance and behavior is considered when determining borderline grades)

Assignment Grading Scale                                    Assignment Weights

        A        100-90%                                            Classwork-Labs-Projects=50%

        B        89-80%                                               Quizzes-Tests-Exams=20%

        C        79-70%                                               Attendance-Participation=20%

        D        69-60%                                               CRT (Criterion Referenced Test)=10%

        F        59 and below

TARDY POLICY

If a student is late to class (unexcused), then the student will serve KKIS (keep kids in school) time with the teacher.  The time to be made up will equal the time missed from class.  If a student fails to makeup the required time, or has excessive tardies, a tardy ticket will be issued to the student for the dean's office.  The tardy ticket for the dean's office may result in lunch time cleanup, detention, suspension, or other disciplinary action.  Students arriving 30 minutes or more late to class will be counted absent for that day.

MAKEUP WORK

It is the responsibility of the student to obtain makeup work for any missed assignments.  If a student is absent for a number of days, the student will have the same amount of days to make up the work missed.  If a student has excessive absences or misses days nearing the end of the grading period/final exams, the student will have to turn in all makeup work by the deadline set by the teacher. (Note:  If a student misses their final exam without notification to the teacher, the student will receive a "0" or failing grade for the exam.)

ATTENDANCE

Regular attendance is required to pass the class.  Good attendance is perhaps the most important element for academic success.  Parents or guardians will be notified when a student has accumulated 3 and 5 absences.  If a student reaches 10 absences, an attendance hearing will be held and the student could be dropped from the class.
