Thirty Birds and
Three Hundred Sixty Names of God

by Zoharo DeTafalla

Dedicated to all Baha'is of the world.

"O My eminent friend! Those who progress in mystic wayfaring are of four kinds." (Baha'u'llah, The Four Valleys, p. 49)

The Bab once penned the most great tablet of the three hundred and sixty Names of God in the form of a pentacle. It is the greatest of talismans ever revealed to mankind. It was absconded and now accepted to be lost. In my own course of education the Names and means of discovery have been revealed. In this internet format it is recognized as a gift to all that it may be studied and utilized in the course of the Golden Age of mankind.

To begin we must find the distinctive derivatives of Baha used to create this talisman. One letter gives one word. Two create two words. Three letters bring forth six new words. And four letters make twenty-four words.

This brings us to our first stumbling block as we have two letters the same in the Name of Baha. Were we to revert to the abjad values of Arabic letters we may percieve that Baha equals nine as b=2, a=1, h=5, and again a=1. We may note that the Arabic hamza also equals one and can be used to replace an "a". Moving these four incriptions all around and we will arrive at twenty-four legible forms of the original Baha as follows: ABH' AH'B A'BH BH'A B'AH BAH' H'AB HAB' HB'A 'ABH 'BHA 'HAB 'HBA 'AHB 'BAH A'HB AB'H AHB' BA'H BHA' B'HA HBA' H'BA HA'B

Using simplification we can eliminate twelve of these Names as repetitive. This lends us twelve basic derivatives of Baha as BAHA, ABHA, AHBA, AHAB, BHAA, HBAA, ABAH, HABA, BAAH, HAAB, AABH, and AAHB.

Now, bring forth the virtue of the first Valley, as is Patience, while we uncover another mystery to this puzzle.

Hidden among the mystic orders in the middle-east, as mentioned in the works of Rumi, are discovered what has been called the Language of the Birds. By oral tradition these were thirty Birds that flew surrounding the Simurg. He it is represents the Promised One of all religions, the great Unity. Each Bird sang in one language with abjad being the first.

Our next discovery are the twenty-nine other languages the values of which give the name of the language by the first two pairs of letters. Just as 1,2,3,4 grants the name in Abjad, so does the next become known as Aghbaz. We find this by dividing the Arabic language in half, folding it beneath the other allowing A to be the first and weaving all the others between the remainder.

Transcribing the Arabic into English is a problem in that Arabic has twenty-eight letters while English only has twenty-six. More difficulty resides in the English use of D, H, S, and Z as the attempt is made to make up this shortfall using these four letters to replace multiple letters in the Arabic. In composing this document the following chart defines a method of transliterating the Arabic to English.

The following is the method of creating an anagramic alphabet in Arabic by permutation (scrambling). Each permutation and commutation created follows an established set of fixed rules (as explained above). The name of each anagram is derived from the first two pairs of letters as 1/1000/2/900 is AGhBaZ.

The key to creating the order of each anagram is found and facilitated by using the original "abjad" values for each letter. For the western mystic not knowledgeable in Arabic, the values are easier to follow than the Arabic letter.

   AGhBaZ

As Arabic is written and read from right to left, we shall continue to explain it in the same manner. However, translating the name of the language to an English equivalent may at times be impossible as Arabic has letters with no English equivalent. Hence, an English "H" may be used for both an abjad 5 and an 8 in the value system. In Arabic the value of 5 is "heh" and 8 is "ha".

Continue this same proceedure with each new "language" (alphabet) created until you arrive at 1000/100/10/1 ( read from right
to left ). We now have fifteen of the thirty languages. If you continue farther it will take you back to the beginning.

The second half of this puzzle piece is created from taking the first (as is ABJD, or pronounced "abjad") and reversing its order ( writing it reversed ).This gives us the sixteenth language. Continuing will reveal all of the Languages of Thirty Birds ending with 1/10/100/1000 reading from right to left.

With this piece of the mystic puzzle complete we may take the first twelve derivatives of Baha and appy each to the twenty-nine other languages discovered. This brings 12 x 30 languages giving three hundred and sixty Names of God all as derivatives from Baha.

For the scholar not wanting to do the work necessary, a continuation of charts shall be provided.

The following chart was completed a few years ago in html format being written for the western mystic. It reads from left to right from the top down. These are the Languages of Thirty Birds. One may note fifteen languages are the opposite construction of the other fifteen.

Again reviewing the process of creating the derivatives of the Names of God from the Name of Baha we use the act of permutation (scrambling) the letters of His Name. For example, by permutation Baha becomes Abha.

By using the hamza and permutation the four letters of Baha give us twenty-four combinations. Removing the similar combinations we arrive at the twelve basic configurations of Baha, Abha, Ahba, Ahab, Bhaa, Hbaa, Abah, Haba, Baah, Haab, Aabh, and Aahb. These are the twelve Names given in the language of abjad.

The following charts give us His Names in all Thirty Languages of the Birds.

At this moment a man must step away from his masculine logical left brain thinking and step into his feminine right brain mode of understanding. It is here we must leave the grammarian on the shore where he is comfortable and dive into the Most Great Ocean of total comprehension.

The artist well knows this avenue of abstract thinking, as well as once did the Samuri of Japan to maintain his balance of thought in meditation. In such a manner the Samuri would develop an instinct for when to draw his sword from its scabbard in defense of Justice.

At this juncture in Time within space we will be able to utilize these three hundred sixty Names of God in their original given language as follows:
