The photos above show one of the two small ponds situated on the reserve. It is stone lined and of some age , thought to have been used for cleaning the wheels of carts as they left the farmland and entered the then village of Brislington. This pond never dries out in the summer months. Species present include Common Frog , Common Toad , Smooth and Palmate Newts.
In previous years Great Crested Newts have been observed but it is the second pond where the rare newt is seen in most years. This second pond is 150 yds from the former and was enlarged a few years ago , even so it suffers from summer drying.
