Boromir is a very complicated man who hails from Gondor. He is first seen at the Council of Elrond and learns of Isildur's Bane. At first, he wants to use the Ring against Sauron and not destroy it but eventually is convinced that this is the best thing to do. He offers to join the Fellowship to fight for the race of Man. Frodo accepts his help but is wary of him. Boromir cannot seem to ignore the lure of the Ring. It calls to him and promises power and a certain defeat against the Dark Lord. Eventually, he is overcome by the Ring and tries to take it by force from Frodo. He fails and realizes his error, but too late! Frodo is gone and the Fellowship is broken! He finds that the hobbits Pippin and Merry are in the battle of their lives and comes to their rescue. As many of you know, Boromir is shot with several black arrows and is defeated. The hobbits are taken from him and he lies there to die. Aragorn finds him and promises him that the White City shall not fall as long as he can help it. Boromir dies in peace.

About Sean Bean

Birthdate: April 17, 1959
Birth Place: Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, UK

Sean Bean is a very talented actor who has appeared in films such as Don't Say a Word, GoldenEye, Essex Boys, Black Beauty, Patriot Games and Ronin. He has also done a British TV series of Richard Sharpe Movies. When asked about his thoughts on Boromir in the Starlog Worlds of Fantasy Issue in February he said, "I don't think he's evil. I think he means well. He's very well-intentioned. He just has a different opinion, and realizes that he is susceptible tot he power of the Ring and will become evil. It will destroy you. People might feel great while they've got the Ring, but they don't realize what's happening to them inside. It's very deceiving. But I think, essentially, that he is a good man. He's very well-intentioned and an honorable man, but very prone to the Ring's power."
