Now, I don't think any hoplite ever carried anything like this, but it is a nice general leafblade design. I really like the shape of the blade, and the curves aren't overdone. The balance point is too close, about 2" out, like due to the massive pommel, which in turn counters the blade, which has no distal taper. It came unsharpened, but I was able to put a nice edge on it with only a stone. Since there's no distal taper, I can't get it very sharp near the tip, which is pretty chunky, but it still cuts surprisingly well for its size and balance. It also thrusts pretty well. After continued use the hilt rotated a bit, meaning the tang is probably cylindrical, but it's not too bad. Overall, definitely not a high-quality weapon, but well worth the price, fun to play with and oh so sexy to look at!
