Sometimes, I can't help but cringe with shame everytime I listen to the news about the Philippines.  How can some people be so dense?

There's this governor who was suspended by the courts and would need to step down and let someone else take office.  Does he step down?  No.  His reason is it was an unfair act and the people of his province will back him up.  Then he locked himself inside the government building while his supporters rally outside to protect him.  At the same time, his replacement is taking office in another building, both of them raising the flag of the country at the same time in different places.

What a farce!  Good thing the reporters decided to be fair this time and really talked to some people in that province.  They said that they didn't care who was in office, but please, could the government of their province do their work and while all this was happening?  Turns out that simple things like approving work permits were not being done while the two politicians battle it out for supremacy.

Really stupid!

Then there's the news that there were over a thousand bills that are now pending simply because all that the opposition governors and senators are tackling at the moment is the impeachment of the president while the other side is bent on the constitutional change.  So the bill asking for the construction of a number of schools in different cities and provinces are not being discussed, thus, those cities and provinces still can't have their schools.

Let education wait!  Discussing who did what to whom is more important than children's knowledge!

There are lots more that are needed to be uncovered, but if it was just getting to be a boring subject, it would be okay to castigate them out in the open.  But right now, I'm feeling frustrated by everything and because of that, I can't talk about it without risking a major heart failure or stroke in the process.

What I want to do right now is forget about it, but to do so would be to deny my right and duty as a citizen to be, as John F. Kennedy once said, to be part of a government that is "for the people and by the people."
