Apart from the ''obligatory'' SNES and Genesis versions, Acclaim also released versions for the two then dominant handheld formats, Game Boy (black & white) and Sega Game Gear. The 8-bit version was of course trimmed down. Batman Forever for GG consists of 4 main levels instead of the 8 of the 16-bit. Level 1: 2nd Bank of Gotham: Having escaped Arkham Asylum, Two-Face and his henchmen have taken over the entire 2nd Bank of Gotham building, and threaten the lives of the bank watchmen they have taken as hostages. His plan is to hijack an entire vault from the bank. Batman must fight his way to the 22nd floor, where Two-Face and his thugs are getting ready to remove the safe. |

Level 2: Hippodrome: Two-Face and a gang of clowns threaten to explode a bomb over the bigtop. Batman battles killer clowns and other fierce enemies in the Hippodrome, from the center ring to the highwire. Time is running out as the countdown to destruction ticks off on your screen. Batman has to reach the rooftop and disarm the bomb before the timer reads 00.Level 3: Abandoned Subway Station: You must thwart the escape of Two-Face as he flees into an abandoned subway station. Level 4: Claw Island: The final confrontation with the Riddler. The control system and gameplay are also trimmed versions of the 16-bit games. A major difference is that here there is just Batman (no 2-player game). There are many gadgets like batarangs, bat-bola etc. The control system is very complicated and like the 16-bit versions, it resembles to Mortal Kombat. The graphics look pretty decent by the standards of Game Gear. The sound is tedious. Just two different music tracks. All in all, this is a hopeless game. Looks decent but plays awful. It is also very hard. Cheat: At the difficulty select screen (Easy, Normal, Hard) press Up, Right, Down, Left, Up, Left, Down, Right |
