GAME REVIEW |
Released in 1995 as a co-production of Acclaim and Sunsoft, this game is based on DC Comics' ''Justice League'' superhero team, and one of its members is Batman. The game is a Street Fighter II-inspired beat'em up, similar to Capcom's ''Marvel'' series. It sounds as a brave concept, putting to fight classic characters like Batman, Superman, Wonder-Woman and the Flash, but the game itself is anything but brave. |

The graphics are hardly heroic. The sprites are large, and especially Batman himself looks very cool. Batman's sprite is one of the best I have seen. His animations and martial arts moves are spectacular, but the quality of the backgrounds is bad. Gotham looks like half-drawn, and the colours in the lighter backgrounds look dry and withered. The sound is an ear-sore. Terrible screechings for SFX and awful music. The gameplay is no better. Unlike Street Fighter II for Genesis, the control is awkward and poor and the execution of the ''super moves'' is very hard. Also, the game is insanely difficult in one player mode. Also, there is a very small number of characters for the player to select. In one player mode there are just six heroes (Batman, Superman, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman) and on two player mode there are two selectable villains (Darkseid and a big guy I don't know). All in all, this is another poor licenced game. It may be interesting for download since it's the only video game that features both Batman and Superman, two iconic superheroes, together. But its low quality means that it's not worth spending any money for it. |
