Before 1989's Tim Burton film, before impressive black rubber suits, before the dark and violent look, the live action Batman of the big and small screen was a fairly ridiculous man that wore his underpants over his trousers. Lewis Wilson was the first to wear the grey tights in 1943, followed by 1949's Robert Lowery. Finally, Adam West became a household name in 1966 with his silk underpants as Batman.

To me, of course, the true Batman is the dark versions, he was created as a dark vigilante after all. I mostly like the current comics, the graphic novels, the 90's animated series and the Burton films. However, I cannot resist the campy 60's series. The 40's versions are maybe too dull to be entertainingly bad, but the 60's series is ''brilliant'', in its own, unique way. It is an amusing and entertaining parody of Batman and comic books in general. Done in style. Much more style than Schumacher's Batman & Robin atrocious film.
