Episode 7, "Pranksgiving"
Written by Greg D’Angelo
Scene 1:
Connor is sitting by a tree. The camera zooms in on him, and we notice he is tied to it. From the skins he is dressed in, and younger face, we can tell this is a flashback.
He struggles to untie himself for a moment. When he does, he takes off running. He blazes through a forest. Suddenly he stops, and his face turns to shock, almost utter fear.
Connor stairs at a huge white bear, standing upright with 4 arms. The mighty beast sees him, and immediately lunges. Connor pulls out two blades, and tosses them at the bear. However, they merely slow it down for a second.
The bear continues, and Connor jumps up into a tree. He rips off a branch, and drop it on the creature’s head. It roars in pain, but is still ready for combat. It slams into the base of the tree, and Connor must leave before he falls down.
He falls onto the bear, and tackles it, but it is to powerful to be contained. It quickly turns the table, and Connor is pinned. All of a sudden the bear growls, and turns away. It is being hit repeatedly by flying stakes. It sees a new target, it’s Holtz, and angrily charges him. However, it has taken to much damage, and collapses. In a flash, Connor is on it, and stabs it with his knife. (The device Hotlz uses is the same as Connor used in "The Price" & "New World.")
"You got out in record time today. You’re twice the speed you were just yesterday." "What was that thing?" "It’s a bear, I’ve seen similar creatures on Earth. It looks like we found tonight’s dinner."
*Opening Credits*
Scene 2:
Connor gets out of a cab, and walks to his family’s house. They open the door, and run out to greet him with hugs. "It’s good to have you home son," says his father. "I’m glad to be back . . . though I’m not sure why." His sister laughs, and sarcastically says "hey, you think you’re to good for us, now that your back from college?" Then his mother yells out "HEY! If you prefer college food to a home cooked meal, then say so." "No way," says Connor. They all laugh, and head inside.
Scene 3:
Connor & Holtz are eating dinner. Connor picks up a piece of meat, and Holtz slaps him. "Mind your manners!" Connor just stops in shock, not understanding. "What’s with that look, do you not know what you forgot?"
Connor shakes his head. Again Holtz slaps him. "You must say grace before you eat!" demands Holtz. Connor shrugs. "You do not wish to thank god for what you have?" "What do I have dad? Tell me?" "That you have food, and a father who loves you, even if you are not of his blood. Most importantly, you have survived, for 16 years in this place that would eat anyone but us alive."
Connor looks up, "thank you god, . . . wherever you are." "There, Steven, that wasn’t to much, was it?" Connor shakes his head. "Good, now we can eat."
Scene 4:
Connor and his family have just eaten dinner, and get up to clean the table. His mother reaches for a big plate, but Connor stops her. "It’s OK, let me." She smiles.
Outside it begins to rain hard, and thunder is heard. A huge lightning bolt is also seen.
Connor’s dad sits at the couch and turns on the TV, but gets no reception. "Damn it, the cable’s out! Never seen anything like this." "It’s only TV, we’ll get someone to fix it soon. Now we have something more important; family."
Scene 5:
Connor and Holtlz are walking through a lovely green pasture. "Watch it," says Hotlz. "I know!" replies Connor, a bit annoyed that Hotlz doesn’t feel he can take care of himself. Connor throws a rock a few paces ahead, and triggers a sort of mystic mine field. It blows up and they move on.
Hotlz pats his son on the back. "My boy is smart." "I can smell them, why is that?" "I do not know. You are gifted. You have somehow inherited the strengths that your demon parents had." The two pause for a brief moment.
"We should speak no more of evil things, let’s continue!" The two walk, and then see some people. "Who are they?" asks Connor. "I do not know, nor do I think we should." "But other people?" replies Connor, still understand the hell he lives in. "Son, there are no other people here. This is a demon breeding ground." "What about us?"
Scene 6:
Connor washes up a few dishes, and then pokes his head out of the kitchen to see if he can help out with anything else. To his shock and horror, he sees his family laid out on the floor. He runs over to his Mom, and checks her pulse, then sister & father.
They are alive, but unconscious for some reason. Wicked laughter is heard. "Come out you coward." Connor stands and waits, but no one comes out.
He goes outside and looks around but finds no one. He turns to go inside, but stops in bigger shock then before. A knife is thrown to his feet. In the doorway stands his father, pointing a shotgun at him.
Scene 7:
Connor runs off to meet these new people. "Wait," cries Hotlz, but it is to late. They see the boy nearing their location and turn. They all draw wooden weapons. Connor has reached them, he now sees they are not people but elves. One jumps from behind a tree, and swings a staff at Connor. He grabs onto it, and pushes it back wards into the attacker’s face.
The others move in. One swings at Connor’s head, while another from behind comes in. He can only see the 1st, but can hear the second. He jumps up into a tree. He pulls out 2 knives, and throws one into one’s leg, and the other into another arm. All of the elves gasp, and the injured 2 fail down in agony.
"Why do attack us?" "You attacked me!" replies Connor, who then jumps Hotlz comes over, "my boy meant no harm, he is just a bit to curious at the site of other . . . . people." The elf man, who seems to be the leader of this group, then starts to feel woozy, and grabs his stomach.
"If you are truly friends, then you must take the metal away from us. We are weak to it. Holtz kneels to the one who was hit in the leg, and slowly removes the knife. With his back to the other elves, he puts the blade against the skin of the wounded, and sees a scar appear.
Hotlz gets up, "he’ll live." Mean while, Connor has treated the other young elf, who was hit in the arm. Both put their weapons inside their clothing. "Thank you," replies the leader. "Perhaps we can be friends." "Are you the leader?" asks Hotlz. "I am K-Nos, I lead this scout party. Our king will decide if we are to do business with others. "We should meet him," says Connor. "Follow us," says K-Nos."
The 2 humans follow, and fail back a bit. "I do not trust them," says Holtz. "You think this is a trap?" "It could be. They do not take our weapons, or blindfold us to prevent us from knowing the way to their village."
The young elf, who was stabbed in the arm turns back. "We trust you. Besides, one cannot open the door to our castle unless they are elven." The trio looks forward, and see K-Nos wave his hand. The truck of a huge tree open as a door way, and everyone enters.
Scene 8:
"I don’t know who you are, but I want you off my property!" "Dad, what are you talking about?" "You are not my son! You are an invader, a deceiver." "Honey, says Kellen coming out," what’s going on?" "I am protecting us, from this monster. Who has changed our memories, and made us think he is our son." "He is our son, at least by adoption. Have you been drinking liquor again?"
"I am not drunk, I have regained my sanity!" Command the father, and he readies the shotgun. "He had that knife, was probably going to kill us with it." Connor turns and walks away. Lawrence throws his bag outside, " . . . and take your stuff with you!"
Scene 9:
Connor & Hotlz wait in a room, which seems more akin to a jail without locks, as they are not allowed to leave. "How long to we have to stay here?" growls Hotlz. Connor puts his finger to his lips. "My boy is smart," replies Hotlz to Connor's silent message. Suddenly Connor’s face turns to shock, and he pulls out a weapon.
The doors open, and a guard steps inside, "you will come see the king now." "I think we will wait till the morning," says Hotlz trying not to let on they know something is wrong. "My boy & I are tired, and . . . " "I am sorry, you must come now, or face death." The guard says raising a bow, as he reaches for an arrow, Holtz raises his arm, and fires a stake into his heart. More rush in, but Connor jumps on them, and quickly stabs them.
"We must flee this place," says Connor demandingly, and begins walking out the door. Hotlz stops him by putting a hand on his shoulders. "What did you hear them say?" "The king said that any who know how to make metal weapons must die, kill the strangers." Hotlz can only nod his head. The two then leave, knowing that even goodly creatures are their enemies in a hell dimension.
When they get outside, Connor turns to Hotlz. "I’m sorry, you were right, we truly are alone here." "I am the one who’s sorry, that you had to know only such an empty place. If only you could have known Earth."
Scene 10:
"Alone again," Connor mumbles to himself. He picks his bag & his knife, both of which which seem somewhat heavier now, and walks away from the house. Tears run down his face. "I’m sorry," says Angel. Connor looks up to see his real father.
