What is Brimstone?
Brimstone by definition means fire & sulfer, so I guess can represent pain or stench. It is a show about a cop, detective Ezekial Stone; Zeke died, but now he's back. And The Devil has him on a special mission.

Why watch Brimstone?
Because it is a cool science fiction type show, it has everything you want, action drama etc. But it's different, Brimstone raises questions about morality. Some people may feel sympathy, while others relate in someway.

Does Brimstone Imply religion?
In a way, yes, because it is based on Judeo-Christian Beliefs; it has a god who judges, The Devil is featured on every episode, and another angel has appeared. Not to mention that alot of scenes have taken place in churches in earlier episodes, where Zeke seeks consoling from a priest. But it also has more generic spiritual aspects too; like repentance, and one man fighting for his soul & the world, then it erupts into a kick ass show. But yet it never states anything about religion, so yes it may imply, but in the upmost subleminal way. Yes there is a devil, we see him, is there god? Who knows, Zeke said to father Horn he never saw him(or it as I say). Yes people (such as myself) who are not christian, jews, or even religious can enjoy the show, we take it not so seriously. Again, yes there is a devil, but he is kind of an obnoxious guide, or a very twisted conscience, for Zeke. One more fact must be said, it a very generic religious notion; that if you anger gods you face there wrath. Brimstone never suported (or condemed) any religion. Just like Touched By An Angel, although Brimstone is more realistic, not always giving you a happy ending. I think a spiritual person can find something spitual in something empty, & likewise the unspiritual can find what they want in the overly spiritual also (it is a simple matter of looking. Never the less; Brimstone remains for everyone.

But most of the damned souls were sent to hell for killing someone, this is because the commandment "thou shall not kill" in the old testament right?"
Wrong, all religions (hindu, buddhist, jewish, christian, muslim, and many others) share these 2 basic beliefs; thou shall not kill or steal. Actually these notions were concieved eons before jews or christians apeared, in these so called "primitive" religions.

Why a cop who went to hell, rather then someone who went heaven?"
I think it would work, but not for Brimstone. This is a show about repentance, we all have things in our past we wish we could change, we all all need to come to terms with our lives (at some point or another). Though in the case of Brimstone it happens after death, in hell. This could be a warning to come to peace before we die, or a kind of purgatory.

When do the Virtual episodes take place?"
Good question, even I'm not exactly sure. I know it doesn't take place right after The Mourning After episode, or a summer hiataus as would a regular second season. But probably a few years later. I am leaving this open to everyones own interpetation, there are some clues, like in Mirror Mirror OnThe Wall Who's The Damnedest Of Them All Zeke watches Gladiator. Or more subtile clues, like in Love Bites, The Devil tells Stone that he has been having a very lousy job performance lately. I put that line in thinking 'there hasn't been an episode in years, lets imply (but deffinatly not state) that a damned soul has not been sent back in years' (at least not by Zeke); it also helps the show jump from taking place in the last season (of 1998-99), to the present time (2002 on). As for present, I never gave it much thought, so I will leave this to everyone's own Interpitation. I may have left hints & clues, as I wanted to imply, rather than impose a specific date on the story. I myself picture season 2 taking place in 2002, followed by season 3 in 2003, & this is the most guidance you will get here. But rules are not necersary for reading enjoyment, for their are many things in the Brimstone world, that are subject to opinions My goal was merly to add closure, to a great show cut all to short, & share my vision of it's ending with the world.

Why do the damned souls come back with super powers?"
Probably hidden in the soul we all have some power hidden. I seen & heard some strange things that people could do, it almost make me thinks I'm in an episode of Brimstone. When alive they couldn't access there powers, being confined in flesh,... there time in hell seems to have amplified that power. Now they're souls walking the earth without the laws of flesh binding them (hence the reason why there are never any bodies), and provided they keep there eyes unpierced, they may now roam the Earth as demigods.

How does one escape from hell?
(some useful information-should your god betray you)
The 2 main problems that one would encounter are 1st- how do you escape from an infernal prison & 2nd- even if you somehow manage to escape how do you get back to earth? For the record let me first state that Hell only exists as a state of mind(just like heaven), like in the episode Heat Gwen says "hell is, everything you want is just out of reach" But let's pretend (for arguments sake) that Hell exists, then it would be reality, & reality has limits. And no matter how strong the boundries, limits can be broken. The way I figure it; every now & then all planes of existence are subject to rifts, tears, holes, & other changes in the fabric that holds them together (hell is no exception). However these changes probably appear momentarily, and occur only once every millenia or so. I takes a keen eye & a sharp mind to notice it. One would also have to be in hell a long time, i'm talking thousands of years; like Ash. We already know from the end of Ashes that Zeke suspects her; The Devil says "you don't realize how dangerous she is" then Stone suggests "she was the brains behind the breakout" So now that you're out of Hell, how do you get back to Earth (or whatever planet you may come from). This seems difficult because you're dealing with seperate dimensions, but this obsticle is is not as big as you might think. Because Hell is an absolute dimension. It is not like the greek Hades (land of the dead) which has 3 different sections (in the same dimension):

1-Elysian Fields (heaven)

2-Tarterus (hell)

3-Hades castle (dwelling place of Hades God of the dead)

So if you somehow managed to escape from Tarterus you would still be in the land of the dead. My theory, is that dimensions are somehow intertwined together, or stacked on top of each other like the levels of a building. To quickly discribe the breakout of Hell with Earthly conditions, picture ahouse with 2 rooms the 1st is a jail cell the 2nd is a game room, the 2 rooms are right next to each other; you're in the jail room, you break through the wall & you wind up directly in the game room. This is a lot like the Brimstone breakout. In theory if you break out of Hell, you could wind up anywhere. Although I don't think it matters where one winds up, because anything (short of god's door step-that is) is a step up. Then again it is always posible that the damned were set free. Why? for fun, as Fr. Salinas said in Pilot "the master of hell having his subjects battle earth, bringing chaos & destruction, all this would surely bring a smile to his face"

I hope you never have to use this info, as I myself (along with a few friends) once did, just kidding.
