What is Channel 80 News?

Channel 80 News is an improv comedy film group utilizing the theme of a television channel. Outlines are written to give direction, but the dialogue is created during the filming. The materials spoofed are broad; talk shows, reality television, commercials, super hero shows, and even sitcoms.

Each episode was roughly an hour long and there were eight episodes in each season. Occasionally special features are included in a season as well.

After filming of the season 8 finale was completed, C80 switched to web length videos
and continued the Star Wars machinima series, but discontinued the episodic format.

What format is Channel 80 News, How do I watch it?

Most episodes are available for streaming on our youtube channel.
Channel 80 News and Holocron are Windows Media Video (.WMV) format.
Windows users can watch it with Windows Media Player or DivX player.
Mac OSX users can either download Windows Media Player for Mac or a plugin for Quicktime.


Who sees Channel 80 News?

The primary audience of Channel 80 News is the cast and crew involved in the production of the episodes, however C80 is available for streaming and download from the C80 website.

What's with that bio-hazard thing?

The bio-hazard symbol is the logo for Hazmat Pajamas Productions, the production company for Channel 80 News, Holocron, and music videos following the lives of the Willamekketa group.

What is the Willamekketa group?

Friends that have or are currently attending Willamette university or Chemeketa community college, or the close acquaintances to current or past students.

What is Holocron?

Holocron is a machinima feature created using the Star Wars: Jedi Academy video game engine, following several students who are going to Kamino university on a capture the flag scholarship. Holocron is the first spin off series from Channel 80 News and is now created independently. Dubbing occurs both before and after footage is shot depending on the complexity of the scene. Holocron episodes are usually twenty minutes long and have twelve episodes per season.

What is involved in participation?

Participating in Channel 80 news is absolutely free. Also, since C80 is an improv group, ideas about characters and stories are usually most welcome. Watching the previous installments of whatever you are going to act in is highly encouraged but not necessary.

What's this about radio?

Channel 80 News started out in 1990 as Channel 6 News on a tape recorder. The acting was still improv but the features were designed to facilitate a listening audience. Many of the radio cast members went on to make up the bulk of the Buckhorn and Glendale video casts.

Where is Public Disservice Announcement #2? I'm not seeing it anywhere.

While most PDA features are stand-alone, the "Drinking Problem of the Ages 2" feature seen in Season 4, Episode 25 is considered to count as the second PDA.
