8/18/04: Geoffrey Rush told Australia's Empire magazine that he is definitely back for the second and third chapters of "Pirates of the Caribbean".
"They are definitely doing a sequel, which I'm very happy to be a part of, because Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio (writers)and Jerry Bruckheimer all know that just with the character of Jack Sparrow as played by Johnny Depp, they've discovered a cinematic piece of history. This is a highly original character who could go anywhere". Read More
8/16/04: According to special super-secret-branch-of-the-government-funded AICN-D sources, the Pacific Film and Television Commission (big funding body in north-east Australia) is putting together a large bunch of money to attract PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 2 & 3 to shoot in Queensland. Read More
5/27/04: Two cool news bits have come in this weekend about the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels. First up, Dark Horizons received a report from the NATO (North American Theatre Owners) annual meeting where Disney talked about the franchise.
He went on to talk about the sequel(s) to Pirates and said the entire cast and production team would be back. He said production would begin shortly on Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3 and they would be released six months apart in 2006. This was news to me as I had only heard their was going to be one sequel.
This confirms earlier speculation by the Hollywood trades that Disney was going to shoot two sequels at once, much like the second and third "Matrix" films.
ComingSoon.net has also confirmed with a very reliable source that Johnny Depp's wish has come true. Rolling Stones' Keith Richards will indeed play Captain Jack Sparrow's dad in the sequel. As you probably know by now, Depp modeled Sparrow in the first film after the musician.

3/21/04: "I was watching Entertainment Tonight on Friday night, and they had an interview with Jerry Bruckheimer. They talked about Pirates of the Caribbean 2. He said he wants to film both 2 and 3 together, and Johnny Depp is not signed on for the third one." Read More
-------Orlando Bloom tells Teen Hollywood that he is thrilled about filming Pirates of the Caribbean 2 because it will get him away from the nasty weather in his native Britain.
"I can't cope with short, cold days. In England it gets dark early, so I prefer summer," he says. "I'll be heading back to Caribbean to film with Johnny Depp soon, which is cool. I have no complaints about working in the Caribbean!"
"On the first film they took me out there early and I didn't start shooting my scenes for a while, so I felt like I was on holiday," adds Bloom.
Does this mean that filming has been moved up to 2004? USA Today recently reported that shooting on the sequel wouldn't begin until January, 2005 for a release date later that year. Read More
3/18/04: The first Pirates of the Caribbean film followed the high-seas adventures of Capt. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) as they chased down the villainous Capt. Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), who stole Sparrow's ship and held Turner's beloved, Elizabeth (Keira Knightley), hostage. The sequel is already under way, with the film's screenwriters working on a draft and deals in place to bring all the stars back. Read More
3/10/04: "That's my tattoo I got for my boy, for my son, Jack. This was the tattoo that I wore in "Pirates of the Caribbean" for Captain Jack Sparrow, except in the film he was flying the opposite way." Read More
