Johnny Depp: An Illustrated Story
The author provides some basic background on each of Depp's films as
well as on Depp and other actors and friends in his life. Bassom
explains the story line of each movie with a little information about
the directors. There were some quotes from Johnny Depp but very few
from others. Most of the book was a recitation of well-known facts
with some opinions and observations from the author.
The book was published in 1996 and pretty much ends with comments
about the Dead Man movie. It does mention that Depp will be doing
Donnie Brasco and directing The Brave, but there is not much on either
of those projects.
Although you may gain some new knowledge from reading the book, the
reason to buy the book is not for the information, but for the
pictures. As the title suggests, it is an Illustrated Story of Johnny
Depp. There are 110 pictures, some of which are full page, in the 80
page 9X12 book.
It is light reading and, in fact, you could easily read it all in one
night (or admire the pictures indefinitely).
