Sleepy Hollow was inspired by the Washington Irving classic, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The movie centers around grizzly murders in a small town in upper New York. Ichabod Crane is sent to the small town to investigated the beheadings. He is told by town's people that the murderer is the ghost of a hessian horseman who lost his head in battle. Believing that the murderer is flesh and blood, Ichabod begins his investigation and soon learns that the town's people are indeed correct that the murderer is not of this world.
