AREA MAN ARRESTED IN CULT CONNECTION
An area man was arrested on three counts of murder following a three-week investigation into the vandalism of a nearby church. Local police traced a hunting knife found at the scene where large X's were painted over several church windows in blood to the suspect's residence. While questioning the suspect, police officers detected a foul odor coming from the basement, where they discovered three garbage cans containing the butchered remains of three teenage runaways. The bodies were all "ritualistically carved," according to the county coroner. When questioned about the murders and vandalism, the suspect remarked, "Satan called to his children, so I sent them to him."
SATANIC ALTAR DISCOVERED IN ABANDONED CABIN
Two Department of Public Works employees stumbled upon the remnants of what appeared to be a satanic altar while clearing ground for a new sewer pipe in the Spirit Lake area. The two men were checking the abandoned cabins of what used to be the juniors area of Camp Spirit Lake when they discovered one of them contained a stone table with a pentagram carved on its face, dozens of melted candles, and the decayed head of a goat. The pentagram--a five-pointed star inscribed in a circle--is an occult symbol commonly used in evil witchcraft and black magic, while the goat is the animal most associated with the devil. Both men reported feeling a sense of vertigo and nausea upon entering the cabin.
SEARCH FOR LOST 13-YEAR OLD ABANDONED AFTER 39 DAYS
The chief of police has called off the county-wide search for a missing 13-year-old girl after the combined efforts of local police and FBI turned up no clues during the 39-day investigation. The girl was last seen in her cabin where counselors found a nightshirt soaked in blood. Unfortunately, there were no other signs of the missing girl. She had seemingly vanished without a trace.
"STONED" BODY FOUND IN LAKE
A waterlogged corpse was dragged from Spirit Lake after an area fisherman caught his hook on the sunken body. Responding to the fisherman's call, park rangers hauled the unidentified body out of the lake and delivered it to the county morgue. The body had been eviscerated and stuffed with large rocks, presumably to keep it submerged.
EARTH YIELDS MORE EVIDENCE OF OCCULT ACTIVITY AT SPIRIT LAKE
Ongoing investigation into cult activity--including ritual mutilation, an unidentified corpse and other oddities--at Spirit Lake took a turn for the downright bizarre with Thursday's discovery of three pine coffins arranged in a fanlike shape near one of Spirit Lake's many cabins. Entombed inside were an unidentified 13-year-old girl, the mutilated remains of a number of rats, and 21 pairs of infant/toddler shoes, each neatly tied together and numbered in blood on the toe. Evidence indicates that the unidentified teen had tried to free herself from the box, and likely died of asphyxiation rather than from the multiple blunt trauma wounds she sustained prior to being forced inside.
OFFICIALS VEXED BY ODD FIND ON FIRE CALL
Firemen dispatched to investigate a blaze at Camp Spirit Lake spotted by a passing private aircraft were surprised on their arrival to discover a number of caged rats arrayed in a circle around the edges of the fire site and the taunting message "not yet" etched in the dirt. A hastily organized sweep of the area turned up little outside of some empty food containers and several uniform containers of gasoline. "This is as weird as it gets," said one of the firefighters. "Aside from watching the area, there's really not a lot we can do to figure this one out."
BLOOD SCRAWL MEANINGLESS, SAYS EXPERT
The New York occult expert brought in by authorities to interpret messages written in blood on several directional signs in the abandoned Camp Spirit Lake has thrown up her hands in resignation. "Here and there are recognizable figures, numbers, seraphs [occult symbols representing the names of demons or netherworld Gods], and even some English, but they make no sense at all when viewed as a whole. My estimation is that the writer or writers of these have little or no actual knowledge of the occult, but may rather be attempting to pin the blame for their crimes on established cults known for similar activities," said the expert in her report to local police.
THE JERSEY DEVIL SPOOKS TEENS
The devil is alive and well at Spirit Lake, claims a shaken group of teens who spent Sunday night in the lockup after being charged with trespassing. In their police report, each youth in separate interviews gave their own chilling account of a large man who surprised them as they watched a ritual bonfire from cover in the Northeast area of the park. All three escaped harm but have been referred for mandatory psychiatric evaluations upon release to the parents Monday. The local youths had accepted a dare to visit Camp Spirit Lake, which has played host to a number of grisly finds since the park's closing a quarter century ago, including the mysterious "Princess Doe" -- an unidentified mutilated female corpse.
