History:
Welcome to the Norwalk Institute of Mental Health. Erected in 1942, it was a home to the mentally and chronically ill. Built to be state of the art for its time, it was to provide treatment for its dangerously unstable patients. Nurses and Doctors worked round the clock to assure greatest of care. Eventually this would take its toll on the doctors and nurses. 15 cases of suicide by staff were recorded during the hospitals 38 year existence. It was also obvious that frustration was in great amounts. Doctors and Nurses allegedly beat and drugged up patients to prevent complaints from the patients. Also, the treatments provided for the patients would only worsen. These torturous practices included electroshock therapy, frontal lobotomy, and total isolation. This would then cause the situation to get worse.
Patients' illnesses grew increasingly stronger and always took a turn for the worse. Crazed riots and beatings were a frequent event that the patients experienced. The patients who check into Norwalk Institute of Mental Health would rarely check out. Patients would usually perish from the treatments or in the hands of there fellow patients. Deaths in the hospital averaged at 300 per year. The hospital was closed in 1980 when the city cut off its funding. Psychics and Clairvoyants agree that this location is an extremely negatively charged area. Visitors who have gone to Norwalk Institute of Mental Health have claimed to witness patients wander the hall at night. Also, they have claimed to witness doctors making their runs normally even though this hospital has been closed for over 20 years. They also claim of hearing cries of pain as well. To this day, psychics feel that this is an area of extreme negative energy.
