This
film views the mob lives of three pivotal figures in the 1960's and 70's New
York. Ray Liotta plays Henry Hill, a local boy turned gangster in a neighborhood
full of the roughest and toughest. Joe Pesci plays Tommy Devito, a pure bred
Italian gangster, who turns out to be Henry's best friend. Robert De Niro plays
Jimmy Conway, the man who puts the two of them together, and runs some of the
biggest hijacks and burglaries the town has ever seen. After an extended jail
sentence, Henry must sneak around the back of the local mob boss, Paulie Cicero,
played by Paul Sorvino, to live the life of luxury he has always dreamed of.
In the end, the friends end up in a hell of a jam, and must do anything they
can to save each other, and stay alive.

Henry Hill -Ray
Liotta For Henry Hill the only career he ever wanted was to be a gangster. Growing
up he was poor and desired the respect and money that comes from being a part
of an organized crime family. When he was but a boy he would deliver things
for mobsters and do other small errands. As he grew older be slowly became more
and more a part of the crime family. Harry finally builds a strong friendship
with both Deniro and Pesci. Harry meets someone he wishes to marry and slowly
she is drawn into the mystique and adventure of the mob family. At one point
Harry beats someone with his gun just for harrassing the woman he wanted to
marry. He did this in broad daylight and after his deed is done he hands his
gun to his woman and asks her to hide it. She didn't even question this. Finally
Harry and his girl marry. She is introduced to all the mob characters who seem
to all be named Maria, or Tony. He shows her the good life. They never have
to wait to get into restaurants or theators. They are just waved in via the
back entrance. Unfortunately the high life soon goes sour when Tommy Devito
(pesci) kills a mob boss and Henry is talked into covering everything up. Unfortunately
everything doesn't go according to plan and the other bosses find out and kill
Tommy. Harry fears for his life as the bosses may be after him too. The Feds
are as well and Harry tries to scrounge up enough cash to get out of town.
Tommy
Devito -Joe Pesci
Tommy is a maverick. He shoots one young mob apprentice in the foot because
he was slow bringing him a drink. When the young boy returns from the hospital
he tells Tommy to go f**k himself. Jimmy looks at Tommy and asks if he is going
to take that. Tommy then rises up and shoots the boy dead. Another time Tommy
meets someone he knew from his youth that gives him a hard time about his past
as a shoeshine boy. Tommy comes back later with Jimmy and kills the old guy.
The only problem with this death was that the guy was a mob boss, and not to
be touched unless a higher up okayed it. Jimmy, and Tommy put this body in the
trunk of their car and head to the hills with Harry to hide the body. Everyone
gets suspicious about where this murdered mob boss is. A few weeks later the
buried body has to be dug up again to be moved. Ultimately the higher ups find
out what Tommy has done and he is killed just before he becomes a full boss
himself.
Jimmy
Conway -Robert De Niro
At first could be described as the older and more sensible one but as the film
goes on and his dealings with Tommy and Ray go by this is blowen out of the
water completely. Jimmy's life decends into anarchy as the FEDs first begin
to harrass him and then in an act of stupidity he and Tommy kill a mob boss
thus encuring the anger of the whole of the crime world. Unfortunately for Tommy
he is killed shortly before he himself is made a boss.
