Assignment #1
Local Arts Event: Visual Arts

As a group we will go to the Art Gallery on Campus. Write a short review of this exhibition. Discuss the exhibition as a whole, then select at least 2 specific pieces to discuss individually. Back up your opinions with examples. You are encouraged to go back to the gallery for a longer look.

Things to consider:
How did the piece make you feel? Why?
What is a possible meaning for the piece?
Deconstruct the piece and think about its elements; size, shape, colour, format, your immediate impression vesus what you felt about it after a longer look.

You are expected to give serious consideration to the piece before either universally embracing or rejecting it. Art will allow us to learn about ourselves. What did you learn about yourself? Are you even capable of thinking that way yet?
