Sean Catlett:
So, Barred Speech.
Er... tell me... about... it?

Allison Fleury:
Ok well...it was inspired by a few things, those being the issue of Archie that has Snively in prison. I think it was 54 & 55. But I really loved those, because I have a weird 'thing' for prisons. Yeah...anyway. I also really dug the movies Face/off and The Rock (which also had the benefit of starring the seXy Nic Cage! *ahem*).
Basically the story was going to be to explain a not-explained element in Archie, which was Snively's robotic hand he had in The Endgame arc and in a few later issues, but then never mentioned again. It really bugged me because people were saying he was a robot, which I thought was stupid.
So I thought 'hey, let's set it in prison!' Yipee. It turned into a long 'autobiography' thing after that. And it took....a few months to write...I think!

Sean Catlett:
Is it normally painful to write something that long? Or does it flow pretty easily?

Allison Fleury:
It depends. Back then, I was writing like crazy and it all came pretty easy.

Sean Catlett:
Real quick, were you still in high school around this time?

Allison Fleury:
I had just gotten out when I started on Barred Speech.

Sean Catlett:
Kay. Have to establish a time frame for all of this.
That's one of the first things I'm supposed to- anyway.
