David Macintyre:
It took six months, at least. My perspective... I enjoyed working with Tails, at least. I felt it was sort of like stepping from... I dunno, from Knuckles, to Knuckles' little prodege, or however you accent that, and it was nice to work with someone who would've been directly influenced by the ending of TFS. The whole idea was to look at the story from other peoples' perspectives and see how it all influenced them, but since nobody had enough dramatic possibilities to do an entire rewrite, I figured a sequel would be better. And then I wrote down a bunch of shit on paper. I still have all of my longhand notes that I wrote on a plane a couple of christmases back. And I think a sketch of what I wanted Shade and... and.... shit, what was Knuckles' robot name?
Sean Catlett:
Glove? No.
David Macintyre:
Fuck.
Sean Catlett:
Fisty?
David Macintyre:
Ew.
But whatever it was, I drew it. And the whole thing about separate authors and perspectives was, obviously, because I was too impatient to do three characters and I figured having others help me with it would ensure it would actually be completed, and ultimately the finished product would be more authentic. More diverse, maybe.
There, that feels better.
Sean Catlett:
And was it?
David Macintyre:
Well, I wouldn't have finished it, at least. I was always behind schedule even with you guys. I mean, Steve and the hobo.
Sean Catlett:
Was there some tension on the set?
David Macintyre:
I thiiiink there might've... been... some. I can't remember.
I think Steve and the hobo had a small falling out at one point and I got involved, which was a bad idea, but I can't remember if that was during or after. And there were some small problems with the hobo trying to do character work by not reading the other parts, except that meant he fucked the continuity.
Sean Catlett:
I hear he finally came around. Did you guys beat him?
David Macintyre:
With rusty sticks.
Sean Catlett:
That hobo sure likes to bitch a lot.
Uh, moving on...
