            Throughout history, the Vietnamese have had to defend itself against several nations including the Japanese, French, and the Americans.  Even with all odds against them, they persevered through every attack.  However, their victories came at a cost to the Vietnamese people, who lost their homes, land, and, in some cases, family members.  Still, the Vietnamese defeated their enemies and regained their freedom again and again, until they were finally able to keep their enemies away.
