Set on a Montana ranch around 1900,
this was the story of the adventures
of young Ken McLaughlin and his horse,
Flicka.
Debuting on CBS in the Fall line-up of 1955,
it was broadcast on Fridays,
7:30 to 8:00 PM.
It was filmed in color,
but CBS showed it
in black and white.
The following season,
it was picked up by NBC,
which began showing
it in ‘living’ color.
Reruns were broadcast
regularly through the 1960’s.
It continued appearing in various places
over the years, with The Disney Channel
including it in their program schedule
into the 1990’s.
