DRESS
Overall cost of mine: £60
YOU NEED: A sewing machine.....a long black dress with sleeves....time.....
1. Find yourself a long black dress (£30). If there's no buttons on it, sew these on - nab them from a haberdashery (£5).
2a. Either wear a white shirt underneath the dress with a black cardigan over the top or...
2b. Sew collars and cuffs onto the dress, nicked from a white shirt.
3. Grab a cloth for cleaning people with.
I got Saffy to make mine for me. She added in details such as the slightly puffed sleeves at the shoulders and the right cuffs. £60 several years ago so price will have increased.
BLACK SHOES
Overall cost of mine: £5
YOU NEED: Shoes!
Charity shop it. You want about a 3 inch heel, black patent leather if possible. Over the toes, open top, buckle around the ankle.
