Janet Wedding

TOTAL COST OF ENTIRE OUTFIT: £22-24.

LILAC SUIT
Overall cost: £6-8
YOU NEED: A pale double breasted high neck skirt suit, lilac machine wash clothes dye and salt OR a lilac skirt suit and poppers.
1. Method one is to search your local charity shop. You want a light coloured double breasted jacket and matching skirt (£5). The jacket should stop just about the waist, and the buttons should be material or at least material covered. It should go up to the collar (sounds silly, I mean there is no v neck or anything), which is a standard collar.
2. Throw the suit in the washing machine with the clothes dye (£3) and salt (50p) too to seal in the colour.
3. Iron out the wrinkles.
A. Alternatively, find a purple skirt suit (£5) and adapt the regular neckline as below.
B. If you pull the collar sides over on top of each other, you'll find they give the same neck as Janet's. Do this, then mark where you'll need poppers (50p) and fake buttons (50p) to keep it there. C. Fold the bottom of the jacket up inside itself. Mark where the correct length is (an inch below your belly button.). Sew it/hem it up.
I got Saffy to make mine for me. £60 several years ago so price will have increased.

WHITE HAT
Overall cost: £2.50
YOU NEED: A white hat with a rim.... ribbon
Tie the ribbon (50p) around the hat (£2) and make a bow at the back. You may wish to secure this using glue.

WHITE PEARL NECKLACE
Overall cost: £2.50
YOU NEED: A small pearl necklace
Can you see it under the collar? No-one *really* wears one, so this is very much optional.

FLESH TIGHTS
Overall cost: £5
YOU NEED: A pair of flesh tights / pantyhose. Any'll do really.

BLACK SHOES
Overall cost: £5
YOU NEED: Black shoes
I found mine in a cheap shop for a fiver. However, the ones in the film are patent leather, or at least have been VERY well polished. Also, they do not have the dotted pattern round the edge of the toe either. They are the most basic of these shoes that you can find.

BOUQUET
Overall cost: £1
YOU NEED: A plastic bouquet.... ribbon
1. Find a plastic bouquet of flowers from your local £1 shop.
2. Tie the ribbon around the bunch to decorate and also strengthen it for when you miss the vital catch.
