If you're in any way shape or form connected to any member of the IWC crew, you've probably heard us talking about our new film Raising The Stakes. If by some chance you have and you've checked our site for info on it, you may notice that it's very slim. To tell the truth, I was worried about the film falling through and didn't want to overhype something that ended up never being completed. However, with about 70% of the film completed, I think it's time to let the cat out of the bag.
Raising The Stakes will be the first feature film from IWC Films. We began shooting in July 2004 and we're hoping to have it completed by the end of this month (October).
The film follows Steve and Bob, two teenagers obsessed with their fantasies of becoming vampires. They parade the streets in cheap makeup and costume shop fangs, which only brings them even more ridicule. Until they meet up with a businessman named Maxwell Selwyn who sells them a potion that turns them into vampires. So they streets again, without needing the makeup and fangs, only to find themselves even more unsuccessful. They search desperately to find a kill, failing miserably every time. However, their failure could easily lead to their demise, as vampires must have fresh blood every four days.
The script combines elements of 80s vampire-comedies with dry humor and social messages on the cliques and labels that people are put into in modern society.
