Originally titled "Halloween 666 - The Origin of Michael Myers," this  film was sadly the last major performance of Donald Pleasence (Dr. Loomis), who died shortly after filming was completed. Executive producer of all the Halloween films Moustapha Akkad says, "With HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS we are definitely going into new, fresh avenues, but without losing that simplicity, that basic simplicity of the original Halloween." The film was shot mostly in Salt Lake City, Utah, like previous sequels. The city experienced an early winter in 1994, and the production company had to fight the elements to create Halloween instead of Christmas day.The film contains many details which elude to previous Halloween films. For example, the address on the Myers house says "45 Lampkin Lane" - which was mentioned in the second film. The musical score is more of a return to the basic Halloween themes. There is also a "gag" in the film...when Barry (the radio DJ) is talking about shooting Michael Myers into space. Originally, John Carpenter had an idea for Halloween 6 that involved send Myers into outer space. Also from the rumor mill, Quinten Tarantino was once attached to the project. The film opens up a new realm of questions for Halloween fans. There were many internal problems that plagued the production.

Facts-
Dannielle Harris did actually want to return as Jamie Lloyd, but Dimension films refused to pay the $5000 she wanted as payment.

Allan Howarth once again scored the soundtrack, although most of the incedantal music was by rock band Brother Cane. Giving a harder edged feel to the soundtrack.

The part of Micheal Myers was played by George Wilbur, who had also played him in part 4. Don Shanks who played Myers in part 5 was originally mooted to return, but in the end they used George Wilbur. This is the only time that Michael Myers has ever been played by the same actor twice.

The last 15 minutes of the film where re-shot for its theatrical release, for this ending Michael Myers was played by A. Michael Learner. Interestingly enough, the doctor he chased down the corridor before crushing his head against the gate railings was the actors real life father Fred Lerner.

There is a version of this sixth Halloween film which has many scenes not shown in the theatrical release, as well as a different title/logo, different character developments, and a different ending. This "Producer's Cut"'s most noticeable differences are:

The movie begins with a flashback to 1989 in which Jamie is kidnapped by the Man in Black before the police station explodes.

Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasance) does the voice-over narration at the beginning of the movie, not Tommy Doyle (Paul Michael Rudd).

Michael Myers does not kill Jaimie Lloyd right away; she lingers in a hospital for half the movie, and is eventually shot by the Man In Black.

There is a very different ending to the movie which replaces everything after the scene in which Kara is captured by the cult members.

In the alternate ending Dr. Loomis shoots whom he thinks is Michael Myers. It turns out to reveal the identity of the mysterious man in black from the fifth film. He says, "Now the game's on you, doctor..." before he dies. Loomis screams with fear because as he looks at his wrist, it suddenly becomes marked by the rune of Thorn, thus making Loomis the new guardian of Michael. The film ends with Michael now donning the clothing of the man in black, thus opening the door for another sequel.

In the home video version, when the father is killed by Michael Myers in the basement, the massive dose of electricity his body takes causes his head to explode. In the alternate cut, for some reason, this is not shown.

According to the official halloween website under the faq section, some scenes from the producers cut are shown in the television cut for the UPN network.
