"...maybe I ought to have my own life in order before I dig in and fuck up someone else’s..."

jennifer
leigh
diffendale

as
lorraine

DATE OF BIRTH: june 6th, 1981

BACKGROUND: jennifer had always loved singing but had never really acted until her sophomore of high school, when she realized how much she loved it. since then, she has been in numerous shows and each new experience only serves to increase her love for the stage. this will be her first chance to act on film and she hopes that she can carry her passion for the theater over to this new medium.

ACTING EXPERIENCE: jennifer's favorite role was jan in 'grease'. other favorites include hope harcourt in 'anything goes' and millie owens in 'picnic'. she also enjoyed playing a young orphan boy in 'oliver!' at the age of 18. she feels that she can really draw on that experience for this film, since she feels that deep inside the sassy bartender, lorraine, is a young, english orphan just dying to break out.

ACTING INFLUENCES: i could list many, many actors and actresses that i admire but i just don't think that i draw on any of them as influences. maybe for this role, i could channel some of the "coyote ugly" girls ... but i just don't see lorraine jumping up on the bar and doing any kind of dance. that doesn't seem to be her style.

ON ACTING: i just really try to immerse myself in the role, to really become the character i'm playing. in live theater, someone is watching you every second so you can never let down your guard. you always have to be your character; you have to react as your character would to everything that goes on around you. i think this mindset will help me in this film, because the deeper i get into my character, the more i react as she would and carry myself as she would, the more believeable it will be that i am her and not someone pretending to be her.

ON LORRAINE: lorraine is very far removed from everyone else and that's the way she likes it. she's much more content with solving everyone else's problems, or at least thinking that she can, than focusing on any of her own. it seems to everyone that lorraine has no problems, that she's perfectly content with just standing behind her bar, listening to everyone griping and handing out advice. but we all know that no one's life can be perfect and behind her facade, lorraine must have as many problems as any one else. she's just become an expert at turning away from them.

ON THIS MOVIE: i believe that this movie has the potential to be something great. it shows how friendships can change, people can change, but there will always be things that remain constant. some people and things will never go away, even though sometimes, we may want them to. lou has really captured the essence of what it means to be a friend and how life can change in an instant and leave us wondering how the hell we're going to make it through. i just hope that we live up to his vision. i know we can.

PERSONAL QUOTE: you know, there's an old saying. "sometimes monkeys die." it's not a great saying, but it certainly is fitting today.
