Lake Hemet is currently owned and operated by the Lake Hemet Municipal Water District, located 25 miles east of Hemet at an elevation of 4,340 feet, with water storage capacity of 14,400 acre feet.
In 1891, work began on the dam, which was completed in 1895. It stood 122.5 feet in height.
Access to the lake is open to the public for a fee, either as a day use pass or for camping.
