Located in Pacoima Canyon in the San Fernando Valley, the Pacoima dam was completed in 1929, measuring 372 feet high and 640 feet wide, and is still in operation.

DIRECTIONS: The dam is on private property and cannot be reached without permission from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, as well as a hefty fee, and cannot be seen from public land. However, you can drive a short distance up into the canyon. From Los Angeles take the 5 freeway north to the 118 east to the 210 north (or west). Exit at Hubbard Street and turn right (north). Follow Hubbard until it curves into Gavina Ave. Follow Gavina to Pacoima Canyon Road where you will turn left and head up into the canyon for a short distance.
