The Red Hills Ranch western street was built by Universal Pictures in 1989 for the Steven Spielberg film Back to the Future Part III at a cost of $2.4 million.
The street was used at the beginning of the film Bad Girls as well as some episodes of the television show The Adventures of Briscoe County Jr..
On August 12, 1996, a wildfire raced through the area, destroying the 27 buildings of the set as well as $10-$15,000 in props.
