THE SHADOW - Volume 1 "The Shadow" radio show starring Orson Welles first aired on September 26, 1937. The final, 52nd, episode aired on September 18, 1938. While the series continued until December 26, 1954, Orson Welles as Lamont Cranston/The Shadow ended with that 52nd episode. Eight of the Welles shows are lost, while a ninth one is only available as a recreation and is not included in this collection. "The Shadow" was a long running pulp magazine from Street & Smith, and "The Shadow" novel in each issue were originally written by Walter Gibson (who wrote at least 282 of the 325 novels).
