(Wood)...and there's a scene where Sean Bean re-enters the picture.




Q: That was a scene with Faramir?




Wood: It was a flashback. What was kind of nice about 
that flashback is that it informs the audience who 
Faramir is, for one. Why Faramir is so desperate 
to get the Ring. It's essentially because his 
father, Denethor, looks to Boromir as his prized 
son, and doesn't respect Faramir at all. 


Faramir, being the dejected son, wants to prove his

worth to his father, so there lies the obsession 
with bringing this ring to Gondor. You don't get 
it as much without it, but you still understand it. 

There's this whole flashback where you actually see

Denethor where you weren't supposed to see him 
until the third movie.  Kind of an interesting 
peek into that relationship. And cool for Sean

Bean to come back as well, because he didn't think 
he would be in the second movie, so he was jazzed.
