Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Hamster Rating: 3 pellets

STARRING: Tobey Maguire (Peter Parker), Kirsten Dunst (Mary Jane), James Franco (Harry Osborn), Thomas Haden Church (Sandman), Topher Grace (Venom)

SYNOPSIS: Peter Parker continues trying to balance his superhero gig with his normal life of work and girlfriend, which is made all the more difficult by a pair of new villains on the block, one with a connection to Peter's recent past, and the other made from the very darkness of Peter's own nature....

REVIEW: It's overlong and has at least one subplot too many. There's no time to properly develop any of the new characters and there's nothing new to explore in Peter Parker's teen-angsty psyche. Thank goodness he gets possessed by alien space goo, otherwise this movie would be a complete drag. Parker's emo bangs are hilarious and the action is plentiful and entertaining, making this three-quel watchable in spite of the fact that it does a rotten job at ending the Spidey saga (in which case, bring on Spidey 4!).
