Moriarty's Pub
Welcome to The Pub! Pull up a chair and grab a pint o'
Guinness, then settle in with the Prof and the boys...
Janurary 6, 2005???
YE GODS!!!! Can you believe I haven't updated this place since
June of last year??? I'm surprised it's still here---which is one of
the reasons I've stuck with Angelfire for all of my websites (none
of that "this page shut down due to inactivity" baloney unlike those
other domains... *wink wink* ). Anyhoo: Happy 151st Birthday to The
Great Detective, Sherlock Holmes and Happy 2nd Anniversary to MH
Shrine!!! ^_^Yep, it's been a crazy year for me. When I haven't been too busy to
get here, I just haven't been in the frame of mind. Among other things,
I shut down my Wisteria Lodge site---I need to take down the link, by
the way; but if you've clicked onto it lately you'll see a nice 'gag' page
with a link to other Holmes sites. In time, I'm hoping to make a few changes to this place:
1. Replace one or two of the pictures here;
2. Add some more of Amber's art plus some other art besides;
3. FINALLY add Amber's story, "His Ardour" (not to mention get
to work on Chapter 3 of "Bedlam!");4. Change a background or two and remove any dead links;
5. Etc., etc.
That's The Meiko's news for now, so kick back with a little afternoon
tea (or glass of claret, whatever suits you) and say Happy B-Day to
The Holmester! *throws confetti*June 19, 2004
The Meiko's a day late, I'm afraid, but: HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY
to Amber S., fellow Sherlockian and faithful contributor to the
Baker Street Gallery!!! *raises glass* Which reminds me, I've
got oodles more of her gorgious Meitantei Holmes art to link up
here, plus some MH fanfiction she's nicely written. Yep, I'm way
behind, everyone; but I'm getting stuff done, slowly but surely. My thanks again to you, Amber honey---you're a good friend and
a lifesaver!!! *HUG*Plus to all you daddies out there: HAPPY FATHER'S DAY (tomorrow)!
May 22, 2004
Happy 145th Birthday, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle!!!
I'm having to put the notice at a library computer right now,
though, because my home computer is messed up, but BIG time.
Hopefully that'll be cleared up pretty soon; but until then,
I'll be re-editing from other locations.
Some more of Amber's excellent fan art will be on the
way in the next few days, plus links to her story
"His Ardour", a sweet and sad MH saga.
Not much else on the fandom front right now, so
have a cuppa tea (or a glassa wine, whatever) and
celebrate The Grandfather of all Holmesian authors!!!
May 5, 2004
Not very appropriate for an "Irish" pub, but: Happy Cinco de Mayo!
As usual I'm late updating here, but good news: WE NOW HAVE
FANART!!! *Riverdances on the bar* Thanks to one of our faithful
Sherlockians, Amber, we have some of her delightful Meitantei Holmes
art courtesy of Deviantart.com, with more to come soon--including some
of her fanfiction! (As for Part 3 of my "Bedlam"? Don't ask.)So, from the looks of things, the MH Shrine is saved! Many thanks, Amber,
and any more fans out there--I'd love to hear from you!
April 10, 2004
Moriarty's Pub turned a year old on St. Patrick's Day!
Sorry I wasn't here to commemorate that, but I've been
in absentia from this place for some time. This place could certainly stand some 'spring cleaning'!
I had thought of chopping off a couple of entries from the
Site Map, but since I still hope to eventually put something
in those areas, it's best to leave them up as reminders.Speaking of reminders: people, this place desperately needs
some contributions. Obviously it's getting visitors (even though
that counter on the home page is counting hits, basically), and
certainly the Holmester has his fans. So I'd really like to see some
art and some other items coming in for this place, even if I have to
link them to another site (with the site owner's permission, of course!).At times, I've wondered about closing this place down, but there are
two main things that help prevent that:1. This is, so far, one of few (and I do mean FEW) English-language
sites dedicated to Meitantei Holmes.2. My love for 'The Hound', which is shared by more people than I know.
And so, fellow Holmesters, the future of this site partly depends on you
and I both. I may consider putting up some polls here and finding out
what my visitors think (for better or for worse). Finally: since Angelfire is shutting down its mail program at the end of
May, I've been using other mailboxes for site (and other) correspondence.
If you would like to talk to me about the site, send any items or whatever,
you can write to me at lady_sherlock@lycos.com or at brideofbasil@yahoo.com .
(NOTE: This is for correspondence, not spam or ads!!! Any ads and/or spam,
or hate mail will be deleted and, if necessary, reported. So, nyah... ) Please
write to me in English, if possible--my computer can't pick up Japanese
characters.Oh, and a note on Part Two of Bedlam! Mystery of the Deluded Detective --
I noticed the URL was broken and finally fixed it! So for those of you who've
been getting that pesky blue page that says "the dog ate this" or whatever,
I'm happy to report I've remedied that. So, till we meet again--Happy Passover and Happy Easter!
January 5, 2004
Happy New Year!
Hope you all enjoyed the winter holidays! Tomorrow, January 6, will be the
first anniversary of the Meitantei Holmes Shrine--but more importantly: the
150th birthday of SHERLOCK HOLMES!!!While I'd love to celebrate it properly in London, looks like I'm stuck here at
home--so I'll just spend the day celebrating the Holmester as well as I can.
Meanwhile, while I haven't unfortunately even started Part III of Bedlam!
yet, I'll get on it as soon as possible. In the meantime, those of you around the world who love Sherlock Holmes
in all his various incarnations (including Meitantei Holmes and Basil of Baker
Street): let's all wish The Great Detective the happiest of birthdays!!!
November 17, 2003
Part II of Bedlam! Mystery of the Deluded Detective is finished at last--HUZZAH!
You'll notice I'm not linking it here, though--that's cause I want you to go straight
to Sherlock's Casebook (which has just been slightly revamped!) to find it, heh
heh! I'm hoping to get Part III done sometime before the year is out, and finally
start work on Vendetta! A Life for a Life. Not much else to tell here, so I'll split. Enjoy reading BMDD Part II! (Parts I and
II are also at Fanfiction.net, by the way--under the "Anime Crossovers" section,
unless and until they can get a section for SHERLOCK HOUND.
November 13, 2003
EEEK!!! Where did the year go? I'm sorry to say I haven't done a lick to
this place in...YE GODS! THREE months!!! Well, hope you had a nice
Labor Day, Halloween, and Veteran's / Remembrance Day (looks like I
just barely came in before the winter holidays)! As I write this, I'm playing some fine old English Christmas melodies.
Tis that time of year when my thoughts turn to Dickens' "A Christmas
Carol", roast goose and plum pudding--and all things dear and Victorian
this season. Ah, to be on Baker Street at Christmas...if only in my dreams.
I'll try to pretty this place up for the holidays, so any drawings, etc. that are
holiday related would be most welcome! And on that note: to those of you visiting this site: this place desperately
needs some material. If you have a story, drawing or screen capture (I
would LOVE some of those!) or any other fandom "goodie" you'd care to
send in--well, I hate to beg, but: Ethel gets down on the ground and grovels
Please, please, pleeeeasssssse contact me!!! I've been getting a lot of junk
at my other e-mail address, so please send comments, material, etc. to:
lady_sherlock@lycos.com . Please e-mail me in English if this is possible;
my computer isn't set up for Japanese characters (and sorry, but I can't read
them anyway). Now to keep you up to date: I've been way, way busy with two other websites,
as well as The Sherlock Shoppe over at Wisteria Lodge. I need to add some
more items over at The Shoppe, including our beloved SHERLOCK HOUND
Case Files I-VI ! There is an Amazon.com "click on" logo under my intro, for
those who don't see what they're looking for right away. The place needs
more work, but it's definitely open for business; so if you're doing some early
Christmas shopping and you're looking for some Sherlockian goodie of some
kind, please pay a visit to The Shoppe! There are lovely books, DVDs and CDs
that'll make fine gifts (if only for yourself). Also, I've been busy at my studies, not to mention trying to get caught up with
writing and what-not. I'm afraid some of my stories are still on the back burner
right now, however...Last but not least: I GOT A JOB!!! I'll be working at a department store for the
holiday season, so that means nobody'll be seeing much of me for awhile. But
I'll try to get something here in time for the winter holidays, even if it's just one
story. That's that for now. Happy Holidays!
August 9, 2003Yes, I'm back--for better or for worse! I've been way too busy with another
website lately; but I'm glad to be back here, if only briefly. To quote Monty Python: "And now, for something completely different..."
The East End Marketplace is officially gone with the wind. Lack of response
made it necessary to delete it, but if there is need for it at a later date, it can
be "ressurrected" . While nothing has been done to The Unofficial Sherlock
Hound Companion , The Dispatch Box , the Gallery or Mrs. Hudson's Kitchen
so far, I'll leave those titles up since items might be added to them later on.As for the fanfiction and pastiche page, some changes are due for that as well.
The rules for submitting materials may be shortened or moved to their own page,
so as not to take up so much space for what should be used for writings. Also, I
may or may not decide not to accept doujinshi (so far, no one's contributed it
anyway). However, if you have a story you would like to have linked, please write
to me and let me know! Even if it's in Japanese, I'll link it for you (though I'd love
an English translation so I can read it) . The same goes for art; art and images
are desperately needed for the site.On the subject of stories, I'm happy to announce that I'm finally working on
Part 2 of "Bedlam! The Mystery of the Deluded Detective". Also, I made some
slight adjustments to Part 1 (nothing major, just changed the colours on the
bg, text, and links, and slightly edited a line or two). I hope to have the second
part finished by the end of this month, much sooner if possible. Hope you find
it worth the wait! Finally: my SH CD finally arrived (I forget the date, sometime last month)! And
a few days ago, I got two more doujinshi (gee, don't you love the way I torture
you all with this stuff?). Things are looking up...now if I could just have that
kind of luck with the lottery!
July 4, 2003
Happy Independence Day to all us 'Yanks' ! ^_^ Today I'm finally getting around
to a bit more updating. I decided not to change the bgs on this page after all--
the Celtic pattern you're seeing just seems more suited than the others I've tried.
But changes are coming, to other parts of this page.First, though: I got my doujinshi, "I'm Smiley, I'm Todd" (in Japanese). It's such a
marvelous manga, I wish I could share it with you all, but I've no scanner. (As soon
as I can get my grubby hands on one, I'll send at least a sample pic.) Meanwhile,
still no CD, but as it turned out it was returned to the sender. So he's mailed it out
again. Hope I get it this time!Last but not least: my new site, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels officially opened the other
day. Stop in and pay a visit!
June 24, 2003
Nope, I'm not dead. Just way, WAY behind in all my "stuff". Anyway, to bring you
up to date:I'm working on yet another site--nope, it's not Sherlockian exactly, but at least
half-Basilian in nature: DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, dedicated to two of my
favourite Disney villains. It's still under construction, as well as various stories
I'm working on, which are some of the primary reasons I've neglected this poor
place. *sniff* Anyway, DRS is (hopefully) going to have its grand opening on
July 2nd, 2003---the 17th anniversary of Disney's The Great Mouse Detective !Also, I've bought my first ever SHERLOCK HOUND doujinshi (no, it's not hentai--
shame on you all). I'll tell you more about it when it arrives. Also, I bought
my first SH cd, but I'm still waiting on that baby. *sigh*My apologies to any and all (well, at least one person that I know of) who have
still been kept waiting for the rest of "Bedlam", not to mention the upcoming
story "Vendetta! A Life for a Life". I've had so many writing projects lined up---
and constant bouts with illness, writer's block, and so much other 'junk' keep
getting in the way. But I promise, your waiting won't be in vain. Thanks for your
patience...Meanwhile, I may be forced to get a new computer or find some other way of
editing my pages (so I can do it on the library computers). This furshlugginer
pc I'm using is getting old and tired. If it were a horse, I'd have already shot it
(just kidding--I think).I'll be updating a few other things around here soon, including some of the fonts
and graphics, etc. This may mean chopping up the Site Map (since I haven't put
in all that stuff anyway) in order to cut down on the work load. Don't despair,
though; I can always add more items later on if I have the time for them.Cheers!
~E.G.
May 2, 2003
Yep---my bad. I haven't been back to update this place in Heaven knows how long
(okay, about the middle of April). Hopefully I'll remedy that in the next few weeks...
This month celebrates the 144th birthday of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of THE Sherlock Holmes Canon, on which Meitantei Holmes / Sherlock Hound is fairly based. Happy Birthday also to my dear friend Diane Tran, who runs some very ambitious sites---not only about Sherlock Holmes, etc. but an excellent site on Disney's The Great Mouse Detective. These sites can be found at the Links page; enjoy!
Back to my weird, wonderful (and yet somehow pathetic) little life. Have a Happy
Cinco de Mayo, guys! **wink**
April 8, 2003
Oscar Night is long over, but congrats still to winner Hiyao Miyazaki (basically,
the "father" of Meitantei Holmes ! ) for Spirited Away, which won Best Animated
Feature! It's already being shown (in English) at movie houses, but the original
anime will be available on DVD next week (just day after my birthday---YOWZAH!!!).Meanwhile, I've still a whole slew of work to do on this site; for openers, Part 2
of Bedlam! Mystery of the Deluded Detective will hopefully be in the works
soon---not to mention another website I'm hoping to do in the next month or
so. Unfortunately, they nailed me for jury duty starting May 12th, so I'll
likely be working around that.Just the other day, however, I got the chance to do some real "pub" work: I was a
temporary barmaid in the beer booth during our local Scottish Highland games! I
had a fun time serving out the beer (and drinking some of it too---though I wound
up sorry the next morning! *ack* ).Guess that's it for my little ramblings. Hope to see you here before Easter---and
by the way, better get your taxes filed off pronto, 'cause April 15th is just a week
off !!!
March 18, 2003
Happy Purim, and Happy Belated St. Patrick's Day! I couldn't get online
much yesterday due to a freak phone line disaster caused by rainy weather
("Sunny" California??? Oh, please...). Not that I planned to do much here
anyway, but I hope to start on Part II of BMDD a.s.a.p. (excuse the "alphabet
soup").
March 15, 2003
Beware the Ides of March! Just kidding. Seriously, I redecorated the background just in time for St. Paddy's, and in the past few days, there's been at least one Sherlock Hound / Meitantei Holmes story in the works: Part I of Bedlam! Mystery of the Deluded Detective. Those of you who are devout students of the Sherlockian Canon might recognise bits from THE DYING DETECTIVE (at least I hope so). I've a whole slew of writing projects lined up at present, and Lord knows what else---so please be patient about the rest of it.
That's the update for now, with more to come soon. See you later!
March 8 (?) 2003
There've been a few new additions since The MH Shrine opened January 6, 2003,
and hopefully there'll be more to come soon. So far, Sherlock's Casebook is slowly getting underway, and East End Marketplace is just up. This little place opened a bit early for St. Patrick's Day, but everybody's still Irish that visits here. Hope you all like the looks of our little tavern, and come visit often for updates, announcements, etc.
If you have any special suggestions to liven up the place, or any announcements you'd like me to put up here, don't be shy---drop me a line and let me know. Meanwhile relax, grab up a handful of pretzels, and toss a few darts. (And by
the way: don't drink and drive!)
