The Origin of This Site:
Birth of a Notion

Long, long ago...in a galaxy far away...

( Okay, all kidding aside: )

Believe it or not, this site actually started with a forum---or rather, two of them.

On January 7, 2000, "Ratigan's Lair" was born. This forum was first a joke for
"Topsy Turvy Day", January 6 (also Sherlock Holmes' Birthday), with Ratigan's
character supposedly "taking over" Basil of Baker Street's Forum . The gag
turned out to be so popular with the forum visitors that Ratigan immediately
got his own board. Giving background information on the villain from Disney's
The Great Mouse Detective, as well as paying tribute to the late Vincent Price
(Ratigan's voice), Ratigan's Lair had a good run until November 9, 2001. On
that date, the forum was shut down---but with a promise that The Professor
Moriarty of The Rodent World would be granted his own personal web page.

It was with a similar idea in mind that a board dedicated to Negaduck (the
villain from Toon Disney's Darkwing Duck ) would evolve into a site. On
April Fool's Day, 2003, "Negaduck's Hideout" appeared as a "gag" forum
hiding under the link of another one. The forum was left up for a short time
and then deleted, but also with a site promised (in conjunction with the
one for Ratigan). However, Negaduck's Hideout returned in late May 2003.

But there were still "promises to keep", as the poet Robert Frost once wrote.
After keeping his fans waiting for 1½ years, Professor Ratigan finally has
his own "shrine"---his only complaint is that he has to share space with
Negaduck. (Negs isn't too thrilled with that idea either, but tough rockos.)

So here, as promised, is a site for both of my favourite Disney villains---
so, Great Mouse Detective and Darkwing Duck fans: LET'S PARTY!!!
