The Bourne Supremacy

Date of Viewing: 12-05-2004
I went out and saw "The Bourne Supremacy", which is the sequel to "The Bourne Identity". This is definitely classified as an action film. The movie gives very little time for you to relax. Usually I find such situations annoying, but how this movie was set up it felt right. The movie is about an ex super agent who had previously gained amnesia. The agency he worked for wanted him dead for some reason or another (it’s been a while since I saw the first one). He teamed up with a woman and they escaped. This movie picks up there. Jason and his wife are now in India. In an elaborate setup, some men set up Jason for a crime he didn't commit trying to get rid of him so as to erase all evidence of some people abusing Jason's kick arse assassin skills. On a chase throughout Europe and some of Asia both the agency and Jason figure out their being used. Unfortunately the agency figures out some time after Jason. One thing I remember from the first film was a very well done car chase. (What action movie isn't complete without a car chase?) This movie followed in those footsteps and made an awesome car chase scene. This was by far the best part of the movie. There were a few things that bugged me. Jason's wife dies off right away, though this is essential to the film it seamed a bit rushed and sloppy on the killers part. Another thing that bugged me was right after the car chase scene. Jason gets out of his battered car and walks out into the street. At this point the angry is still looking to capture him and has police all over the place, yet some how, with Jason limping, shot in the chest, and in no doubt with slight head trauma, is able to escape. Though Jason is incredibly good at evading things, this seams like a lame duck trying to escape a hunting dog.

Final Ratings
Plot: The plot was purely revenge and greed, not much different from any action movie. 5/10
Explosions: Not many but the Jason managed to get off one cool explosion by unscrewing a gas line and then putting a magazine in a toaster. 7/10
Special Effects: Mainly the kick arse car chase, but it was just too damn cool! 7/10
Acting: About average for an action movie. 5/10
Character Intelligence: Jason can memorize maps at a glance, can grab needed items for an up coming fight in 2 seconds while walking through a grocery store and can evade the best law enforcement in the world even with them having the upper hand. 9/10
Character Coolness Factor: Jason is the $%*^!!! Though he could use some emotions. 8/10
Final Rating: Definitely a good film. 7/10
