Major thanks to Crowe Graphics for that pic of Tree up there. I'll be adding new galleries from his Mystery graphics soon, keep posted.
Tree: "I'm about to be on the cover of Sport Illustrated. That photographer said I have one of those expressive faces. A face that tells a story."
Team mates: "Too bad it's a tragedy." "A comedy." "Yeah, a horror story."
Ryan Northcott, Russell Crowe and Kevin Durand in possibly my favourite picture out there that's related to this movie. A sucker for thoughtful looks combined to the stubble, perhaps?

The film's cast includes

The movie's a nice one, a feel-good one I think some review called it, and they'd be right about it. Tree's also the first one to shoot a goal in the movie, by the way. He also gets another "Silliest Headgear" prize for that llama-hat he wears, not only Zipacna who excels in that. ;)
I postponed saying anything about the film because I have a minor nitpicking problem or two with it, mostly the teenage flashbacks I get. I grew up next to a hockey pond and an ice rink back in Finland, had it shoved down my throat in school and otherwise, so it's familiar territory, recognize a lot from it. What I wanna know is do they realize how effing freezing ice and snow is over there in Hollywood when they write this stuff? Showing that skating half naked (no, not Kevin, someone else) into the snowbank for a punishment made me freeze just looking at it, knowing what winters of down to minus 25-30 (at worst) can be like. So yeah, the New York Rangers come to play in Mystery and "It's also minus 10 outside"? Like that's cold? Wussies. ;) I did sigh about so many leather gloves in the audience though, not something that would keep your fingers from freezing if you're standing around in -10 C for the duration of a hockey match. At least there were scarves in the film, most of the time filmmakers forget those as well.

There were some nice touches I particularly liked in the film. When the very tall New York Rangers arrive the brothers (Winocka was it? I forget right now) look at them and say "Big..." "Uh-huh, yeah." Tree smilingly dismisses them as "Not that big," only for the look on his face to turn more worried as one taller than him passes by.
The second one was the cute giggle "Hehee!" he does after one of the Rangers gets sent off after a bit of a rumble with him. The yellow board in the audience saying "Hey Skank! I'm pregnant!" was also amusing. It was also sweet how Tree practically had tears in his eyes after the match (I won't say if it was for joy or sorrow though). It'd also be interesting to know if all of the nervous fidgeting Tree did was on purpose, knees or hands often on the move it seemed.
Otherwise... I hate to sound too hormonal which is another reason I've kept quiet so far, but there's no getting around the fact that it's been quite a while since I saw anything as sexy as Tree in the locker room, with that tight white shirt half open, tightening that belt, or bare-chested of all things. Muscular arms, chest, shoulders... If I could sculpt I'd know who to use as a model and that goes for his regular look, too. Pretty near perfect shoulders and arms. Me like. *grins*
So: Hollywood BitchSlap Review. He beat Hank Azaria and is only a little behind Crowe...
The following picture I had scanned from the backcover of the British VHS version of Mystery, Alaska. Silly hats ahoy, Kevin in the middle in the camel-beige clothing. Haven't seen this particular picture anywhere else on the Net so enjoy.
