Durand in Taken

Not from Taken but lovely anyway

Kevin Durand is in the second episode of Steven Spielberg's (executive producer) big science fiction series (or is that mini-series?) Taken. He plays a vagrant/transient/hobo in a cattlecar of a train, a big good guy who stands up for one of the main characters and knows a lot about UFO and ET stuff. He's apparently clean shaven, scruffy and has a slight French Canadian accent, a mixture between Tree and Joshua's speech at times, garbled enunciation. Simple, short sentences...? Two scenes. Second one gives him about 3 good minutes of screen time with one other (main) character in train car. So no, the pic up there is NOT from Taken. I'll naturally be on the lookout for any future screencaps, feel free to use Alien Express to send me any you might have.
Thanks to Milla and Crazyblondewolfbitch for the above info.

My thoughts about it

Another short but sweet part. I've only seen this twice, tried to catch the quotes and focus on things at the same time so there may be some inaccuracies here and there. He's incredibly dirty (not too many showers in them trains in the '50s...) but still looks cute. The baffled cute he's done as Tree and Joshua, too, so a large part of me was going "Seen this, can we have something else next?" For some reason I also noticed his hands a lot in this, but then I like his hands. Very dirty hands in this, mind you. The (yoga-reminder?) cross-legged sitting position was also of interest to a couple of fans, I've noted. Yes, I know, very physical so far but first things first. *polishes her halo*

SPOILER WARNING!!

Whatever-his-name-was-again Keyes, ex-military gets on the cattlecar and one of the bums, Irish Dave (according to IMDB or Irish Steve as I heard it), has differences of opinion with him, Kevin's "Bum on Train" (IMDB's name for him) defending Keyes. "Go, go easy. He's not right." Later he ends up having to defend him from Irish Dave's physical attack, too, only the aliens interrupt and abduct Keyes in front of them all.
So come morning everybody else but our Bum (and a very nice one it is, too, thank ye, tho not seen much in this) has scrammed. Mr Bum is making breakfast and gives Keyes his stolen medals back. Quotes should be mostly correct, a couple of things in parentheses I couldn't make sense of because of the mumbling. "Compliments of Irish Dave and the others. They've left in kind of a hurry. Dave (wanted you to have these back?) and that if he ever saw you again, (which he hopes that he doesn't?) that you will please forgive him. When you're in the mood... maybe you could tell me what happened last night?"
Keyes talks about the abductions and how he was first taken during the war and how the map he carries is to keep track of every place he gets taken, looking for a pattern so he could... "You could what? Run? You could get away? ... F-from what I saw last night... it seems that you're a bit outclassed."
He also notes that maybe the aliens don't know why Keyes was the only one of his men to survive the first abduction and that's the reason they keep taking him again. "Maybe it's something in the blood, something that makes you special." Mr Bum keeps looking up a lot, by the way, as if half expecting the aliens to return, but is clearly very curious about it all and concerned about Keyes, even right before the abduction, everybody else cowering in the farthest corner while he was crouched over Keyes to make sure he was okay despite the probable danger.

Way too little and gone too soon but I guess every little helps. They tease you with train tracks and cattle cars all through the episode but that's all you got of Kevin in it, maybe 20 minutes in and then 5 minutes later he's gone again.

To check the official site go to Taken.

The second episode is called "Jacob and Jesse" so to check when to catch it go to SciFi's schedulebot.
