Episode 03; Naru: Love Hina Naru begins with Keitaro and Moe, they start talking, and Keitaro begins to remember the dream he had of the promise to go to Tokyo U together, when suddenly, his dream fades out to an older version of young Keitaro, with a very young Kanako. He's washing her hair and then tells her that when two people go into the abandoned annex together, they can be together forever. He then tells her they should go there one day, so that she won't have to be lonely anymore... Kanako asks Keitaro to promise and then looks up at him. Apparently a dream, Keitaro wakes up, claiming that the dream he had was different from any other. Then the scene switches to Narusegawa and Moe, walking together in the abandoned annex... they hold hands, and you see Naru slowly transform into a younger version of herself. You then see a view of Keitaro, holding Kanako's hand, about to put the ring on her finger. Naru's eyes get bigger, as she mutters the word "no" repeatedly, until she's screaming it and running towards the image of the two. She then falls down and cries, when Moe-chan reassures her that the ring isn't with Kanako. Narusegawa wakes up, confused as to why she dreamt about Moe. She then looks at her hand and realizes the ring isn't there, which causes her to go into panic-attack mode. As she's frantically trying to find the ring, Keitaro climbs through the hole and asks her if she's seen it. Keitaro seems to be unclear about the events of the night before, when Kanako comes in, claiming that she would never lose the ring if it had been given to her. The scene changes to Kanako buttoning a top for Keitaro, as you see Narusegawa eavesdropping in on them. She opens the door and tries to walk in with tea on her tray, but the powers of the annex force the doors to shut on her. She opens them back up and walks in but trips on a device of Kaolla's and is blown out of the building into the sky. Naru climbs back on the roof to go back to Keitaro, but as she grabs the railing, it breaks, and she falls off. At this point, Naru gives up and tries to think of reasons why she can't even get near Keitaro and Kanako without some force pushing her away. Then it hits her - could it be the powers of the annex? Something sparkles on the clocktower, so she runs towards it but is stopped by Motoko and Kaolla. They run towards her and apologize, claiming that they feel weird. They are then interrupted by the sound of Kanako's laughter, when Shinobu runs up the hill and claims that she has to ask Narusegawa something. At the hot springs, the entire group confronts Narusegawa, asking her why she isn't doing anything about Keitaro and Kanako. Worried, Shinobu points out the fact that it looks like... like... Kaolla jumps in and claims love! Then Shinobu tells Narusegawa that they're planning on going to Toudai, so they can all be together, happy. After that, Shinobu demands that Naru tell the group how she really feels about Keitaro, but Kanako comes into the scene and also tells Naru to be honest about her feelings... however, after looking at the faces of everybody, Naru runs away. Keitaro asks her what's wrong but instead of being answered, he's punched out of the building. You then see Keitaro, sick in bed... Kanako tries to wake him up, but to no avail. Since he's knocked out, she takes off her clothes and lies in bed next to him saying, "Onii-chan..." His response: "Naru...segawa..." Kanako gets up, upset, claiming that Narusegawa does have good qualities, but that she needs to be more honest. There is another scene change now, with Narusegawa walking along the street, looking depressed, when Kentaro honks his car horn and waves to her. You then see the two of them at a beach, where Naru and Kentaro start to talk about Keitaro. Kentaro asks Naru why she ran away, and she asks him if he ever was in a situation where his close friend liked someone he liked. She continues, saying that dating Keitaro would change the friendship she has with the Hinata girls and that she's afraid of losing the fun times that she has with him, just being silly... afraid that being lovers will change all that. Kentaro interjects, asking if Naru would be okay with Kanako and Keitaro being lovers, to which she replies, "Well, if that happens, I'll stop it with my life!" Kentaro then concludes that she really does love Keitaro, which embarrasses her, so she starts calling Keitaro a pervert again... but then adds - it's okay sometimes. Annoyed, "Kentaro" takes off his mask to reveal Kanako's face and yells for Naru to make up her mind about Keitaro, running at her to beat her up. Naru claims that the situation has nothing to do with her, and when Kanako throws her in the water, Naru shows her vulnerable side and basically says she's afraid everyone will hate her if she becomes lovers with Keitaro... and that she doesn't wanna be an isolated girl again. Changing the mood of the scene, Keitaro pulls up in Seta-san's van, only to find the real Kentaro locked in the trunk of his convertible. Kanako then throws Naru into the sky and changes into a Naru costume... she runs away, as Keitaro chases her. Keitaro chases Kanako, yelling for her to wait up, but she just keeps on running, thinking to herself that Keitaro's only chasing her because she's in a Narusegawa costume. After a while, she finally gets tired, and Keitaro catches up to her. He starts talking about how he wants to explain his feelings about her, but Kanako keeps punching and kicking him. He then reveals that he knows she's Kanako and takes off her mask. He figures that Kanako was talking to Narusegawa because she knew she was being stubborn, and he tells her that he always loved that kindness about Kanako... she then hugs him. In the middle of their embrace, they start to get lifted away by the magic of the annex and are thrown in there. Haruka and Sara run to the scene, wondering if the inn will hold... they then turn to see Naru and Kentaro running towards the inn. Naru tries to get into the inn but is being pulled back by the annex's magic... she breaks through the doors, however, and is stopped in her tracks by the sound of laughter. They tell her that they've been brought there by the annex's powers because they're supposed to somehow stop Naru from getting inbetween Keitaro and Kanako's relationship... then they tell her that they're having a party and drinking sake since they can't move. While talking, Kitsune reveals that she gave up Seta-san for Naru, and Mutsumi mentions how Keitaro dumped her for Naru... so you can obviously see some bitter feelings surfacing. Nevertheless, they still care deeply for Narusegawa, so they pry open the doors and let her through. The minute Narusegawa enters, she runs into Motoko and Kaolla, who both attack her, causing Naru to run back out the door. But she stops and decides that she's not going to run away anymore, in fear of losing Keitaro. She then basically tackles the two and is permitted to the next level. There is a scene change, with Keitaro and Kanako... he starts to explain to Kanako about the promise he made to her when he was a child... he says that he told her that because she was always feeling alone, and he didn't know what the meaning of being linked was. He apologizes for forgetting about the promise and tells Kanako that she'll always be with him. The scene switches again, this time with Naru and Shinobu. She tells Naru that she used to have no self-esteem before Hinata Inn and then learned to finally like herself... Naru compliments Shinobu and says that she was selfish for dating Keitaro when she knew how Shinobu felt. They basically settle the problem between each other and decide that whoever wins 'rock, paper, scissor' gets Keitaro... Scene change again - Keitaro and Kanako are in the room, talking, and Keitaro explains more in depth how he feels about Narusegawa. Kanako kisses Keitaro and says she'll let Naru win... for him. Again, the scene switches back to Naru and Shinobu... they play, and Shinobu purposely loses, as Kanako walks out the door, and they both push her through. Naru walks in the room and starts talking to Keitaro, but as she walks towards him, the annex's powers cause the building to explode, which causes Naru to be blown out, with Keitaro standing on a ledge. But Narusegawa is determined to get the ring, so she climbs up the tower and retrieves it, though it ends up falling out of her hands. Keitaro catches the ring as it's falling towards the ground, but he ends up falling off the ledge, too. As Naru watches Keitaro fall, she screams for him to not leave her and jumps off, landing in his arms. They plunge towards the ground together but end up landing on some cushions. Once they land, Naru looks up and sees the image of Moe-chan and mutters "like you" to Keitaro... he looks at her in confusion, and she starts screaming about how she likes him, saying, "I'm sorry!" She keeps on saying she likes him over and over again and finally... she says, "I love you!" and then looks down and says it one more time - "I love you..." Keitaro smiles and gives her the ring, as she snatches it up, about to break down in tears. She starts crying and falls forward to kiss Keitaro... They lie down together and continue to kiss, when they notice that everyone is watching them. Keitaro and Naru freak out and start running, when a helicopter with Seta-san comes by and snatches Keitaro up... Naru grabs Tama-chan and flies up in the air towards Keitaro... Kanako calls Kuro to go after them, but everyone grabs on to Kanako, causing them to fall to the ground. Once Naru is safely in the helicopter, they both tell Seta-san that "the two lovers would like to go to Toudai"... |
