Episode 01; Tokyo Invasion: A group of as yet unknown forces launches an attack on the city of Tokyo Jupiter. Inside the city, a 17 year old boy, Ayato Kamina, lives a seamingless normal life. As he's heading to school with his friends, Asahina Hiroko and Momaru Torigae, the subway car crashes. As Ayato heads to the surface to get help, he finds the city under attack by the previously mentioned forces. Ayato runs into his friend, Mishima Reika, and the two head down to another subway track, where Mishima suddenly vanishes and 2 men from the 'government' come to take him. Ayato is rescued by a woman named Haruka, who had been spying on him, but Ayato takes the first opportunity to escape from her on the subway track. Here, Mishima suddenly appears again as the car heads to a mysterious place known as 'Xephon Shinden'. Meanwhile, the apparant head of Tokyo Jupiter's forces, Maya Kamina, sends 2 powerful weapons known as Dolems to defend the city. Mishima and Ayato arrive at Xephon Shinden where they find a third, although dormant one. They continue on to an open area, where a giant egg lays surrounded by Greek-like columns. The Dolems and Mishima start chanting, causing Ayato to cringe, and say 'RahXephon', as the egg cracks and a wing appears from out of it. A giant floating structure, which Haruka calls 'Mu' appears over the city. Episode 02; The God Like One Awakens: Ayato's conciousness somehow synchronizes with the giant RahXephon, which had emerged from within the giant egg. RahXephon breaks into the midst of the fighters and Dolem, the mysterious weapons, and exhibits its awesome powers. Everything disappears and things turn to normal as if nothing had happened. But the incident was not an illusion. "I will show you the truth." Hearing those words, Ayato tries to escape Tokyo with Haruka in her VTOL, but Reika once again guides him to RahXephon, to synchronize with it and enter into its body. The time of Ayato's awakening had finally come. |
